Sesame Street's Elmo Trilogy to Debut in Ebook Format

Sesame Workshop, a not-for-profit educational organization, and Random House Children's Books are teaming up to offer parents and children titles from Sesame Workshop's library in Microsoft Reader format. The first three books, currently published by Random House, a Sesame Workshop book-publishing licensee, feature the Sesame Street character Elmo.

The Elmo eBook Trilogy -- Elmo Loves You, Elmo's Tricky Tongue Twisters and Elmo's New Puppy -- are available for purchase on Barnes & Noble.com. Other merchants are expected to offer additional Microsoft Reader titles from the Workshop library in the near future. In all, ten titles will be available during this first ebook release by the Workshop.

``These cherished works will reinvigorate story time as an activity for parents and children to enjoy together. Ebooks enable readers to enjoy their favorite books in new ways, and they open up a new world for children,'' said Gary Knell, President and CEO of Sesame Workshop. ``Sesame Workshop is dedicated to helping children grow and develop in today's ever-changing world, and we are proud, once again, to be an innovator in children's education and entertainment.''

Sesame Workshop is a non-profit educational organization. Its products include television, online, CD-ROMs, magazines, books, film, community outreach, and licensing. Several of the Workshop's earlier programs, including The Electric Company, 3-2-1 Contact, and Square One TV, can now be found on Noggin, a joint venture between the Workshop and Nickelodeon.
