More details. eCompany Now, a technology business magazine from Time Inc. and The Fortune Group, announced that it will raise its rate base for the second time within a year, from 325,000 to 375,000 as of June 1, 2001. eCompany Now is published by the Fortune Group at Time Inc., an AOL Time Warner company. Pulitzer Newspapers, Inc., a subsidiary of Pulitzer Inc., announced the purchase of Siebrasse Publications of DeKalb County, Illinois, including the company's flagship weekly newspaper, The MidWeek. In addition to The MidWeek, Siebrasse Publications, formerly owned by Kathy and Charles ``Chuck'' Siebrasse, publishes telephone directories and operates a website. The MidWeek is a 30,000 total market circulation weekly newspaper almost entirely home-delivered to households in DeKalb County. iVillage Inc., operator of the iVillage Network, which includes iVillage.com, Lamaze Publishing and the Newborn Channel, announced the promotion of Kellie Gould to Senior Vice President, Programming from Vice President. Ms. Gould has responsibility for overseeing the 49-person programming team, as well as the editorial content and direction and new channel development efforts of iVillage.com. She reports to Steven A. Elkes, Executive Vice President, Operations and Business Affairs. InfoWorld Media Group, an IDG company, announced that it has named Andrea Rhynes as publisher. Rhynes' previous experience includes positions with Red Herring Communications, Upside magazine, Ziff Davis Publishing and Cahners Publishing. Rhynes will assume her duties with InfoWorld on March 1, 2001. Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc. announced that James Follo, MSO's Senior Vice President, Finance and Controller, has been promoted to the post of Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately. Mr. Follo will succeed Helen Murphy, who has resigned from her position as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. to rejoin the music industry as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Warner Music Group. Rodale Inc., a publisher of health information, announced that Tom Beusse has been named senior vice president and managing director, Rodale's Sports and Fitness Group. Heat Treating Progress (HTP) debuted as a trade publication dedicated to covering heat treating -- a link in the manufacturing process that improves the properties, performance and durability of metals. Published by ASM International, the 40,000-member materials society, HTP is of interest to heat treating business owners and managers, metallurgists, materials engineers, shop floor managers, researchers and others who have an interest in this thermal process. The publication formerly was a supplement to Advanced Materials & Processes, the official magazine of ASM International. HTP is published seven times a year. Subscriptions are free to qualified individuals. The Thomson Corporation, a business information provider, announced that it intends to sell certain businesses contained in its Thomson Financial market group. The businesses to be divested include publications, business products, and services primarily targeting the commercial banking sectors, as well as several niche markets. The transaction is expected to be completed later this year. Major businesses and brands include American Banker, The Bond Buyer, A.S. Pratt, Credit Union Journal, National Mortgage News, and Sheshunoff Information Services. Other businesses and brands to be divested include those that primarily focus on the financial planning and other niche markets, including: Financial Planning, On Wall Street, Securities Industry News, and Traders Magazine. Latina Media Ventures, publisher of Latina Magazine, has announced that Kathy McDonald has joined the company as its Consumer Marketing Director as well as Sandra Volino as its Production Director. Ms. McDonald joins LMV from Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel. Medscape, a provider of digital health records and online health information, announced that the company has elected Tom Croskey, director of Employment and Cost Analysis for General Motors, and Andrew Heyward, president of CBS News, to its board of directors. Expedia.com has joined with an online source for gay and lesbian travel information, Out & About. Expedia.com features Out & About's highly-regarded content to help gay and lesbian travelers better plan their trips. Over the next few months, Expedia plans to add Out & About content for more than two dozen popular destinations. EC Media Group/Thomson Financial, a publisher of print and electronic products covering Internet-based industries, has launched a redesigned website providing news and other resources for business-to-business ecommerce. EcomWorld.com, the online sister publication of Electronic Commerce World magazine, offers news and articles written by staff writers and industry experts. EcomWorld is edited by Richard Mitchell, a veteran journalist who joined the website this month after having edited EC Technology News as well as other magazines covering ecommerce security, electronic identification and smart card industries. The Golf Society of the U.S., a subsidiary of Visual Data Corporation, announced an agreement with America Online, an interactive services company, under which the Golf Society of the U.S. (``GSUS'') will provide a variety of golf-related content to AOL's Sports Channel. The channel will provide a range of Golf Society's content, including its weekly columns, content from the Golf Society's Player Magazine, golf videos, online swing analysis and golf products. CynterPubs Information Resources announced that Jerry Eimbinder has joined the company as group publisher. Eimbinder joins CynterPubs with more than 35 years of publishing experience. As group publisher, Eimbinder will be responsible for editorial leadership, strategic expansion, new product development, marketing and sales. In his career, Eimbinder has served as vice president and group publisher at Hearst, CMP Publications and Faulker & Gray. Warner Bros. Online, an entertainment studio site, and AmericanGreetings.com, an online greetings site, have formed a multi-tiered marketing and licensing program. adam.com, Inc., a creator and syndicator of health information, announced it has renewed its content licensing agreement with Cox Interactive Media (CIMedia), a business unit of Cox Enterprises, Inc. Home & Garden Television and Food Network announced that they have signed Katie Brown to host the daytime series Home Workshop With Katie Brown and the weekly primetime design series tentatively titled The Look for HGTV, as well as primetime specials for Food Network. Both HGTV series and the Food Network specials are scheduled to premiere in the 2001-2002 season. The announcement was made by Burton Jablin, president, HGTV and Judy Girard, president, Food Network. Webprint, Inc., a business-to-business, ecommerce provider for on-demand printers and Adobe Systems Incorporated announced an agreement through which the two companies will collaborate to deliver products and services. As part of the alliance, Webprint will integrate Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) and other Internet printing technologies from Adobe with Webprint's own customized, desktop-to-delivery solutions for digital printers. Warner Music Group announced that as previously agreed, Jerome N. Gold will leave his position of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Gold will be a consultant to Warner Music Group. Jerome N. Gold has been Executive Vice President and CFO of WMG since 1992. Prior to joining WMG, Gold was National Director of Media and Entertainment and an audit partner in the New York Office of Ernst & Young. VNU, Inc. announced that David Berger has joined the company as Chief Financial Officer. In this capacity, he will guide the entire Finance operation of the company -- including financial planning and financial systems development. Before joining VNU, Inc., Mr. Berger spent the last 9 years at Simon & Schuster rising from Vice President, Financial Planning to Senior Vice President, Finance, to his last position as Senior Vice President, Finance & Development. Harcourt e-Learning announced plans to offer extensive online library services to academic institutions. Forestweb Inc., an Internet-based aggregator and integrator of information for the forest products industry, announced the launch of its wood-industry trade magazine, Forestweb Wood Journal. The Catalogue of Antiques & Fine Art announced the launch of its new website, which offers consumers a preview of the inventories of world-renowned art and antiques dealers and the shows at which they exhibit. Susie Taylor has rejoined the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) as a Staff Writer in the Information, Education, and Community Services Department. Bell & Howell's Information and Learning unit and The Christian Science Monitor announced an agreement that will bring all of the Monitor's back issues to the Web through the ProQuest online information service. The agreement allows for Bell & Howell to digitize the Monitor's archives -- approximately one million pages -- and to distribute the resulting database to educational institutions and libraries around the world. The Christian Science Monitor digital backfile will be part of Bell & Howell's ProQuest Historical Newspapers project. TownNews.com announced the acquisition of Anytime News, creating an online network of more than 500 U.S. newspapers. Anytime News, based in Chanhassen, Minn., was owned by Community Newspapers Online, which was created by seven community newspaper publishers and the technology company Inetium. TownNews.com, based in Moline, Ill., is operated by the International Newspaper Network (I.N.N., L.C.) whose majority owner is Lee Enterprises of Davenport, Iowa. Anytime News hosts about 150 online newspapers, while TownNews.com hosts 390. Combined, the online network will represent newspapers in more than 41 states, with more than 30 million page views per month. At its most recent meeting, the Fisher Board of Directors approved a change in name from Fisher Companies Inc., to Fisher Communications, Inc. This move reflects Fisher's stated vision of becoming a ``high performance communications and media company.'' Easyriders, Inc. announced that John Martin has resigned as the company's Chairman of the Board, effective March 1, 2001. On the same day, the three other directors designated by Mr. Martin under a 1998 Shareholder Agreement, Daniel Gallery, Wayne Knyal, and William Prather, also resigned. Following this action, the remaining directors elected Joseph Teresi, the company's largest shareholder and CEO of its principal subsidiary, Paisano Publications, to serve as the new Chairman. Easyriders currently publishes more than a dozen popular motorcycle, special-interest and lifestyle magazines, with a total worldwide readership of more than 6 million. Gaylord Entertainment Company announced that executive Brian Payne is leaving the company to pursue other business interests. He will continue his association with the company through projects with the company's music, media and entertainment group. Payne previously was president of Gaylord Entertainment's interactive media group, which contained the company's international cable television, radio and Internet businesses. The company has exited its Internet initiative called Gaylord Digital and placed its cable television and radio businesses in the newly created music, media and entertainment group. Cox Newspapers, Inc. announced it has purchased The Nickel, a free distribution weekly shopper newspaper located in northwestern Colorado, from Kerry and Joy Murdock, owners of Confluence Publishers Inc., for an undisclosed amount. The Nickel is a weekly shopper with some 20,000 copies distributed each Wednesday in Mesa County and throughout much of western Colorado and eastern Utah. Kerry Murdock will continue to manage The Nickel for the immediate near term and will assist in the transition of The Nickel to new ownership for up to six months. He will report to George Orbanek, publisher of The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel, a daily newspaper owned by Cox. GlobalMedia.com announced that it has requested a hearing before a Nasdaq Listing Qualification Panel to review the scheduled delisting of GlobalMedia.com's common stock from the National Market System. GlobalMedia.com received a Nasdaq Staff Determination notice on February 21, 2001 indicating that its common stock had failed to maintain a minimum bid price of at least $1.00 as required for continued listing by Nasdaq Marketplace Rule 4450(a)(05), and that its securities are, therefore, subject to delisting. Under the Nasdaq rules, the scheduled delisting is stayed pending the outcome of the hearing, which is scheduled for March 30, 2001. GlobalMedia.com is actively pursuing measures to bring it back into compliance with the Nasdaq rules. The McClatchy Company announced that Patrick J. ``Pat'' Talamantes will become its Vice President/Finance, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer. Talamantes is currently Chief Financial Officer of Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc., of Baltimore, MD, which owns 62 television stations nationwide. His appointment is effective in early April. He replaces Doretha Christoph, who resigned last fall. Barnes & Noble College Bookstores, Inc. and WizeUp Digital Textbooks announced plans to expand their relationship and marketing initiatives.
