Stars & Stripes Unveils Career Magazine for Military Personnel

Posted on March 2, 2001

Stars & Stripes Omnimedia Inc., a media company serving the military community, announced the launch of a new magazine for transitioning military personnel, Stripes Jobs. Stripes Jobs appeals to transitioning and recently separated military personnel in a five-year window (2 years prior to and 3 years after their transition from military to civilian life). The magazine prepares military personnel for civilian life by providing in-depth profiles of companies and industries that actively recruit veterans, job search tips and tools, profiles of successful veterans, and networking information.

``We started test-marketing Stripes Jobs several months ago, and when the Department of Defense requested that we circulate the magazine to every transition class -- over 250 of them -- we knew that we were on the right track,'' said Jack Colletti, Chairman and CEO of Stars & Stripes Omnimedia Inc. ``During my career as a Naval officer, I saw how challenging it was for military personnel to find a new career after the military. Stripes Jobs will demystify the process, deliver quality resources, and match these highly- trained personnel with companies that value their talents.''

The new magazine receives a total distribution of 250,000 military personnel transitioning annually. Published monthly, Stripes Jobs reaches over 258 Department of Defense-sponsored military transition classes in the U.S., 45 international transition classes, and students using the G.I. Bill at over 500 universities. This product offering is the most recent announcement for Stars & Stripes Omnimedia, which last April announced the acquisition of The Stars and Stripes newspaper.
