GoReader and Harcourt Announce Ebook Agreement

goReader, Inc., an electronic book and reading device company focused on education, and Harcourt College Publishers, a publisher of higher education textbooks, announced a partnership to provide electronic textbooks to college and university students nationwide. goReader and Harcourt have selected 40 best-selling titles from the publishing company's business and science lists. The titles will be available on the goReader electronic ebook device for students to purchase beginning in summer 2001.

``As one of the preeminent higher education publishers, Harcourt College is helping to guide the industry to embrace alternative distribution platforms for its content,'' said Rich Katzmann, CEO of goReader. ``With student demand for electronic textbooks greatly increasing, we are excited that goReader and Harcourt will be able to deliver a user-friendly solution that meets students' needs.''

Specifically designed for students, the goReader device features a 7.3`` X 9.7'' color high-resolution screen that features operations such as navigation, multi-color highlighting, note taking and bookmarking. The goReader can hold more than 350 full textbooks and display color images, graphs, tables and formulas.

``The goReader offers a great way for students to smoothly transition from printed books to electronic textbooks without forcing them to compromise how they interact with the course materials,'' said Ted Buchholz, president of Harcourt College Publishers. ``Because content on the goReader device is identical to that in our actual textbooks, students can study it as they do using a traditional book. But the enhanced functionality of the goReader enables them to individualize content in the way that works best for them.''
