The stock transaction will substantially increase iExalt's presence in the Christian entertainment services sector. Effective immediately, Capital Artist Agency will become ChristianArtists.com. Nickelodeon, a cable network for kids and adults alike, has surpassed the 80 million subscriber mark. Now in its 22nd year, Nickelodeon is continuing its forward momentum in 2001 with new program launches and new episodes of returning hits. For First Quarter '01, Nickelodeon will have introduced four new shows to its schedule: Taina (launched Jan. 14), a new hit with tweens; the pre-school program Bob the Builder (launched Jan. 15); and the next generation of Nicktoons, The Fairly Odd Parents and Invader ZIM (both launching Friday, March 30, in prime time). The network also will air more than 175 hours of new episodes of returning Nick favorites in 2001, such as SpongeBob Squarepants, Blue's Clues, Dora the Explorer, The Amanda Show and Rugrats, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Ingram Book Group, a leading book wholesaler serving the book selling, library, international and Internet communities, has chosen E3 Corp., a provider inventory management and Web-based collaborative solutions, to streamline its inventory process. Ingram will implement E3TRIM, E3's distribution-center forecasting and replenishment system, throughout its national warehouses. Ingram will also use E3's consumer behavior pattern analysis application and seasonal profile and forecasting tools. Primedia Consumer Magazines announced that Robert Acquaotta, 39, has joined the American Baby Group as Director of Online Sales. Acquaotta will report directly to Bob Davidowitz, Publisher of Primedia's American Baby Group. He will be primarily responsible for ad sales on the American Baby website - AmericanBaby.com, however he will be offering integrated marketing opportunities across American Baby Group's online, print, television, sampling and Baby Faire properties. The Disinformation Company, a counterculture website, has released its first guide book entitled, You Are Being Lied To: The Disinformation Guide to Media Distortion, Historical Whitewashes and Cultural Myths. The Disinformation Company is a subsidiary of Razorfish Studios, Inc., a privately held entertainment company with offices in New York and Los Angeles. Business 2.0 announced the creation of Motion, a new quarterly business travel supplement. The travel supplement, debuting with Business 2.0's May 15 issue, will cover the intersection of work, life, and travel, providing readers with a signpost for where business travel is going. Editor at Large Nancy Rutter will head up Motion and will work closely with Business 2.0 magazine's Editor in Chief James Daly to set the supplement's editorial vision and direction. Rutter has been editing the magazine's marketing section for the past two years, and previously held staff positions at Money, Inc., Forbes, and American Lawyer. Huron Capital Partners LLC, a private equity investment firm, announced that it has recently completed the acquisition of Riverside Book & Bible House, Inc. and its wholly-owned subsidiary World Bible Publishers, Inc. for a purchase price of approximately $17 million. As part of the transaction, Huron Capital said Riverside and World Bible Publishers have been consolidated to form a new company, RiversideWorld, Inc. RiversideWorld is the nation's #2 distributor in the $5 billion Christian products market and a leading Christian publisher. MediaDNA announced it has engaged investment banking firm Software Equity Group, LLC to seek buyers for the Company. MediaDNA, formed in 1997, is a Digital Rights Management (DRM) provider. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. has promoted Stephen Hendry to Senior Vice President, Financial Planning, it was announced by Charles Cohen, Executive Vice President, Finance and Corporate Development. Mr. Hendry currently oversees MGM's financial planning process and also serves as a liaison to the Company's bank group. Going forward, he will assume added responsibility for managing treasury operations, including cash management. Rightscenter.com, an online rights marketplace, announced the addition of Hungry Minds, Inc., formerly IDG Books Worldwide, to their list of publishers. Hungry Minds will post approximately 50 front list titles through the Rightscenter application, as well as their entire backlist. R.R. Bowker, a publisher of bibliographic information, has released Samir Husni's Guide to New Consumer Magazines 2001, a publishing industry reference about new consumer magazines. The book, which is being published by Bowker for the first time, contains information on emerging consumer magazine titles. The 2001 edition features lively and current data on the 874 new magazines published in 2000, as well as Husni's critical analyses of the ``30 Most Notable Launches of 2000.'' Lot21, a Digital Experience Marketing company, announced the launch of the Lot21 Emerging Media website. The site is a new resource devised by Lot21's Emerging Media team; one meant to provide the industry with insight into the capabilities of some of the most promising emerging technologies and introduce their potential as marketing vehicles. Parachute Entertainment has inked a deal with Kids' WB! to produce a live-action television series based on the book series The Nightmare Room, penned by R.L. Stine. The Nightmare Room television show will air weekly on Saturday mornings in Fall 2001. Barnes & Noble, Inc., a bookseller, and CPI announced a partnership in ebook preparation. CPI, through its newly acquired Philippine data conversion facility EPVI, will provide the necessary back-office services for Barnes & Noble, Inc. and Barnes&Noble.com in connection with their recently announced Barnes & Noble Digital ebook initiative. EPVI, based in Manila, is a specialist in data conversion from ``hard copy'' or electronic format for ebook use with technology for file creation, conversion and management. Under CPI, Europe's leading book manufacturer, EPVI, will expand its range of services to both American and European publishers. DataPlay, Inc. announced that it has secured a pact with BMG as a result of which the music major will prepare to make its new releases available on pre-recorded DataPlay digital media. DataPlay has previously signed content deals with Universal Music Group and the EMI Group, and with the BMG arrangement, DataPlay now has endorsements in place from three of the top five music companies. Michael Spinozzi has been named to the newly created position of senior vice president of sales and marketing for Borders, Inc., effective March 19. Hungry Minds, a how-to publisher, and office products retailer Centis, are collaborating on a new For Dummies product line which will be launched nationally this month through all mass market retailers. The announcement was made today by Al Magid, President of Centis CPD, and Hungry Minds' chairman and CEO John Kilcullen. elearning magazine announced the addition of a seasoned publishing professional, Gene Smarte, as editor-in-chief. Smarte has over 15 years of experience as a business-to-business technology editor, and also has several years experience creating online versions of print publications. He has held previous editorial positions, including executive producer of Digital Media Online, an online web community for the digital media market, and editor-in-chief of two Advanstar publications, CADALYST and PC Graphics & Video. Smarte will work with Editor Paul DeVeaux and the magazine staff to quickly establish a strong web presence and a robust editorial line-up for elearning magazine. Smarte will be based in Advanstar's Santa Ana office. R.R. Donnelley Financial, a financial printer and communications solutions company, has named James S. Burns as vice president, marketing. He will be responsible for developing and managing strategic initiatives to help R.R. Donnelley Financial penetrate new markets, grow the business within existing markets and continue to build the company's customized communications capabilities. Regardie's Power Magazine will cease publication with its March-April issue now in distribution, it was announced by its co-founders Renay and Bill Regardie. Introduced in September 1999, Power was created to cover Greater Washington's new technology-oriented economy as well as its traditional business, real estate and political markets. Published every other month, 40,000 copies were distributed on a controlled circulation basis on newsstands. SmartMoney.com, a source of financial news and market tools, announced a content agreement with Yahoo! Inc., an Internet media company. Under the agreement, SmartMoney.com will provide daily editorial content and weekly stock screens on Yahoo! Finance. eWanted.com, a buyer-focused marketplace, announced an agreement with Yahoo!. eWanted will offer its integration of reverse auctions and fixed-price buying models to users of Yahoo! Auctions. Freedom Technology Media Group announced the launch of its newest editorial product, E-Business Strategist -- a supplement appearing bi-monthly in selected issues of FTMG's business-to-business publications. Debuting in March 2001, E-Business Strategist is a peer-to-peer supplement tailored to the specific needs of senior executive level readers. FTMG's newest editorial addition will be targeted at 150,000 CXO and VP level subscribers of its business-to-business publications: CRM, Knowledge Management, and Field Force Automation magazines. Northern Light Technology, Inc., announced agreements to bring over 100 new newspaper titles to its online business library, which now numbers more than 7,100 journals, periodicals and research reports. This expansion includes the addition of The New York Times, as well as more than 100 newspapers from the Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News service. GreatestEscapes.com Inc., an Internet multi-media publishing and travel enterprise, announced that it is seeking a potential acquisition. RightSpring, an online marketplace for searching, licensing and digital delivery of creative assets to professional users, announced the formal launch of its services to the media production industry. The Association for Women in Communications is calling for entries for the 29th Annual Clarion Awards Competition. The Clarion Awards is a competition recognizing outstanding achievement in all communications fields. The program honors excellence in advertising, public relations, marketing, print journalism, on-line journalism, graphic design, photography, books, CD-ROM's, and broadcasting. Entries are judged against the work of their peers in size and budget to ensure that everyone from the largest ad agency to the smallest newspaper are fairly considered. More than half of an entry must have been published, broadcast or implemented between January 1 and December 31, 2000.
