Hallmark Channel Announces New Movies and Shows

A slate of original miniseries, movies and series produced in association with Hallmark Entertainment will premiere this year on the Hallmark Channel (formerly the Odyssey Network), it was announced by Margaret Loesch, President and CEO, Crown Media United States for Hallmark Channel U.S.

Among the titles announced are the miniseries Johnson County War penned by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Larry McMurtry (Lonesome Dove) and starring Tom Berenger, Rachel Ward and Luke Perry and Stranded, a four-hour family adventure inspired by the classic novel Swiss Family Robinson. Ms. Loesch also announced the two-hour movie Scandal in Bohemia, the third in a series of movies produced for the network based on classic Sherlock Holmes short stories.

Among the original series planned for the Hallmark Channel is Lincoln Hall, (working title) a one-hour, dramatic series; The Neverending Story, a half-hour series based on Michael Ende's bestselling novel; and Telling Stories With Tomie dePaola, 26 episodes of a half-hour series from The Jim Henson Company featuring illustrator and storyteller Tomie dePaola.

In addition to being the home of original movies, miniseries and series from Hallmark Entertainment, the Hallmark Channel is the exclusive home of films from the library that makes up the Hallmark Hall of Fame Collection.

Odyssey Network, scheduled to become the Hallmark Channel on August 6, is a 24-hour television network that provides entertainment programming. Odyssey is owned and operated by Crown Media Holdings, Inc. Strategic investors in Crown Media Holdings, Inc. include Hallmark Entertainment, Inc., a subsidiary of Hallmark Cards, Inc., Liberty Media Corp., EM.TV & Merchandising AG (parent company of The Jim Henson Company), the National Interfaith Cable Coalition and J.
