Imagine Media's Xbox Magazine Announces Management Team

Imagine Media announced three key appointments to its Official Xbox Magazine. Dedicated to Microsoft's new Xbox game console, Official Xbox Magazine rolls out in the US, the UK, France, Germany, and Italy at product launch. Imagine won the exclusive international rights to publish the magazine last fall.

Heading the business side of the US OXM is publisher Karen Quilantang, former publisher of PC Gamer. ``Karen's deep background in youth and special-interest publishing, combined with her extensive knowledge of the game industry and its key players, makes her dangerously right for this position,'' said Jonathan Simpson-Bint, president of Imagine Media.

``I've never been as certain about the success of a project as I am about OXM,'' said Quilantang. ``During my years at PC Gamer I saw Microsoft become a dominant player in PC gaming. If any company can secure support among both gamers and developers, it's Microsoft. And given the extent of our exclusive publishing relationship, I predict enormous success for Official Xbox Magazine as well.''

Another hire is David Barrow, who left Microsoft to join Imagine as global brand manager of Official Xbox Magazine. Barrow has held management positions at Ingram Micro, Egghead, Multiple Zones Inc., and most recently with Microsoft. While at Microsoft, David published the Microsoft Insider Magazine and spearheaded the development of the Official Xbox Magazine and partnership with Imagine Media. Barrow will be responsible for facilitating OXM magazine teams around the world. Rounding out the OXM team is Mike Salmon, the man behind PC Accelerator magazine. Salmon will be the editor-in-chief of the US version of Official Xbox Magazine.

Official Xbox Magazine is scheduled to launch a month prior to the release of Xbox; Microsoft and Imagine Media will unveil their prototype issue at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles on May 17th.
