DestinationSOHO will provide current industry-related news, a free newsletter, a discussion forum, and a services directory that will offer information from site partners and other companies. In addition, the website will allow visitors access to Small Business Computing magazine, one of the top publications for the SOHO market that is published by FTMG. Future plans include web conferencing and hosted seminars with guest speakers. FTMG also announced it will stop publishing the print edition of Home Office Computing (HOC), an 18-year-old periodical dedicated to home office workers, effective with the April 2001, issue. The periodical's editorial content will be incorporated into other FTMG print and online properties. As part of this move, some aspects of Home Office Computing editorial content may be incorporated into its sister title Small Business Computing, targeted to small business owners. Home Office Computing will also play a prominent role in destinationSoho.com. A total of 25 employees will be laid off as a result of the shutdown of HOC. ``We're aware that DestinationSoho.com is launching at an interesting time, as the dot com world is struggling against a variety of challenges,'' says Mendelsohn. He adds, ``In spite of the difficult environment, we've attracted more than 16 premier companies representing a broad range of products and services for the SOHO market as our partners. And we anticipate upwards of 16 more partners within the next few months.'' DestinationSoho.com and Small Business Computing magazine comprise the Small Business/Home Office division of Freedom Technology Media Group. FTMG's Executive Intelligence Division's titles include: CRM Magazine, Knowledge Management, Field Force Automation and eBusiness Strategist. Freedom Communications, headquartered in Irvine, CA, publishes 27 daily newspapers, 15 magazine titles and operates 8 broadcast television stations along with over 50 affiliated Internet sites.
