Netronics Magazine Publishes Premiere Issue

The first issue of Netronics magazine, the latest offering from Penton Media's Electronics Group, debuted last week. Positioned as ``technology to empower next-generation network design,'' the publication reaches a target audience of 50,000 engineers and technical managers working in the networking and communications industries. A website for the new magazine was also launched at netronicsmag.com.

Netronics previewed this past fall as two special issues of Electronic Design, Penton's flagship magazine for emerging technologies. Netronics' core audience comprises network system designers and carrier engineers.

The editorial package of the May inaugural issue of Netronics includes: analysis of the architectural schemes of storage-area nets (SANs) and network-attached storage (NAS); a product review of advanced optical components, including tunable amplifiers and lasers and erbium-doped amps; an assessment of the future of fiber to the homes; and a fast-paced overview of business issues affecting the networking industry, including the slowdown in DSL chip production and the ongoing storage management crisis.

In the coming months, Netronics will explore a host of critical issues, among them: Gigabit Ethernet and next-generation backbones; network operating systems for real-time architectures; managing Terabit data streams; moving voice and video over IP; and advanced server architectures.
