The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Montgomery Newspapers reported total revenues of approximately $18 million for fiscal year 2000. ``I am extremely pleased to announce that these publications and their talented staffs have joined Journal Register Company,'' said CEO Robert M. Jelenic. ``We have long felt that these high quality, award-winning community newspapers would be an excellent addition to our Greater Philadelphia Cluster, which now has combined daily circulation of more than 173,000 and non-daily distribution of nearly 1.1 million. The Montgomery Newspaper Group is a terrific complement to our Suburban Philadelphia Newspapers Network, and allows for considerable synergies and efficiencies.'' Journal Register Company's Greater Philadelphia Cluster consists of six daily newspapers with total paid daily distribution of approximately 173,000 and 88 non-daily publications with total distribution of approximately 1,058,000. Journal Register Company is a U.S. newspaper publishing company that currently owns 22 daily newspapers, including the New Haven Register, Connecticut's second largest daily and Sunday newspaper, and 195 non-daily publications.
