Friday, June 8, 2001 New York Metro Website To Launch In August New York Metro, a joint venture between Rainbow Media Holdings, Inc.'s MetroChannels, and Primedia's New York Magazine, announced that it will launch its newyorkmetro.com website on August 20, 2001. The website will offer information, entertainment and lifestyle options on the regional, neighborhood and building specific level. The site's content and features will come from the resources of New York Magazine and MetroChannels. Neighborhood oriented information and resources from About.com, which was acquired by Primedia last year, will also be used. New York Metro also acquired the Internet-related assets of RexHome, an Internet portal for residential properties, in exchange for RexHome receiving a minority stake in the company. At launch, RexHome's portal will be integrated onto the newyorkmetro.com site and will incorporate all of the functionalities of the RexHome site. Registered users will have access to RexHome's neighborhood news and information as well as building-specific information. ``Unlike any other site on the Internet, New York Metro will bring together information, entertainment and lifestyle options from the regional breadth of New York Magazine and MetroChannels; the neighborhood focus of About.com; and the local resources of your own apartment building from EdificeRex,'' said Craig Unger, General Manager and Editor-in-Chief of New York Metro. ``From the best restaurants and nightlife, to shopping and services, we are building a site that will be the arbiter of taste for sophisticated New Yorkers.'' Newyorkmetro.com will feature content currently available in New York Magazine and will add new content to the website through features, newsletters and databases. The site will also provide the information and links created by Primedia's About.com New York neighborhood guides. Databases of information about New York restaurants, bars, stores, and entertainment will also be provided. Newyorkmetro.com will also integrate with MetroChannels television programming and feature content from RexHome.com.
