ELLEgirl.com Website Launches

Posted on June 25, 2001

Lagardere SCA subsidiaries Hachette Filipacchi Magazines, the publisher of Elle, and Lagardere Active North America, announced the introduction of Ellegirl.com, an online style destination for teens. The site is being launched prior to its print publication to give readers the opportunity to provide feedback via the web in a number of areas for the magazine, scheduled to launch on August 28, 2001.

``As part of a worldwide strategy for the company, Ellegirl is launching first in the U.S., followed by upcoming launches in Europe and Asia,'' said Jack Kliger, president and CEO, Hachette Filipacchi Magazines. ``Both Ellegirl's online and print products will draw upon the considerable resources from each of Elle's 34 editions with stories and photographs covering global teen interests.''

``Elle's sophistication and spirit translate perfectly to a younger demographic. The global success of the brand speaks to the girl who grew up on the Internet, with hundreds of cable channels giving her access to an exciting and limitless world,'' said Brandon Holley, editor-in-chief, Ellegirl.

Ellegirl.com will be broken down into five major categories: Global Girl, Shop Girl, Pretty Girl, Total Girl and Fan Girl. Each section will include exclusive online content and functionality, such as interactive e-cards, quizzes, games, chats and polls. Users will be able to provide feedback and their opinions will be used to shape future issues of the Ellegirl publication. Additional site highlights include club membership opportunities.

The operations of the Ellegirl.com website will be managed through Lagardere Active North America, a subsidiary of Lagardere SCA that also owns Hachette Filipacchi Magazines (HFM). Hachette Filipacchi Magazines (HFM) is the U.S. subsidiary of consumer magazine publisher Hachette Filipacchi Medias whose parent company is Lagardere SCA.
