· The Board of Directors of Rand McNally, a provider of mapping, routing and travel solutions, announced that Michael Hehir has been named President and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Norman E. Wells Jr., who was appointed Chairman of the Board. Wells follows John D. Macomber, who will continue to serve on the company's board, as will Hehir as a newly appointed director. Mr. Hehir is a 26-year veteran of the print and electronic publishing industry. He has held various senior executive positions with McGraw-Hill.

· Primedia's americanbaby.com, an online resource for pregnancy and parenting advice, announced the first of a series of monthly online courses taught by Dr. Alan Greene, a pediatrician, author and expert in the developmental issues that surround child rearing. The first online course will take place at 9 p.m., Tuesday, June 26 and Dr. Greene will address the issue of sun, water and warm weather outdoor safety for children. The courses will have a short discussion with Dr. Greene on the topic and then a moderated question and answer period with americanbaby.com members. Alan Greene, MD was named the Children's Health Hero of the Internet by Intel. He is co-founder of DrGreene.com and the Chief Medical Officer of A.D.A.M., a worldwide health information resource.

· The Pennsylvania Division of American Lawyer Media (ALM), a legal journalism and information company, and Jenkins Law Library announced a strategic alliance that will allow lawyers in Pennsylvania to research cases, court rules, articles, and a wide range of other legal information, through one website. The new site, paLAWlibrary.com, will be created by Jenkins and incorporate content licensed to Jenkins by ALM's Pennsylvania Division, including selected articles and features from ALM's Legal Intelligencer, Pennsylvania Law Weekly, Delaware Law Weekly, and The Western Pennsylvania Legal Intelligencer.

· BritannicaSchool, a division of Britannica.com Inc., has unveiled the BritannicaSchool integrated suite of K-12 teaching and learning products and services for educators. BritannicaSchool's flagship product, the new K-12 BritannicaSchool website, offers reference, curriculum and creativity tools designed to improve teaching and learning. Available to schools nationwide this fall, the new BritannicaSchool website offers teachers an online curriculum and teaching resource that helps them use classroom technology for planning instruction, assigning homework, teaching, assessment and reporting.

· McGraw-Hill Lifetime Learning (MHLL) a provider of elearning solutions, has launched BusinessWeb, a website for MHLL customers designed to augment and enhance the elearning experience with specially selected material drawn from the resources of The McGraw-Hill Companies. Delivered through MHLL's hosted elearning websites or through Internet or intranet sites of MHLL customers, BusinessWeb aggregates and filters information to match the core areas of interest of each elearning student. BusinessWeb sources include BusinessWeek Online, Standard & Poor's, the McGraw-Hill Professional Book Catalog and through PowerWeb, a range of specialized business articles.

· Prous Science, an international scientific publisher, announced the launch of Prous Science Integrity, a drug discovery portal integrating all the knowledge areas in drug discovery and development, including chemistry, genomics and proteomics, tissue engineering, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and pathology. Integrity enables researchers to manage and correlate chemistry and genomics data with experimental and clinical pharmacology results and with a knowledge base of disease entities.

· Thinkwell Inc., a publisher of new-media college textbooks, has hired textbook publishing industry veteran Bill Wahlgren as its editor-in-chief. Wahlgren brings 14 years of educational publishing experience to Thinkwell. Most recently, he worked for Holt, Rinehart and Winston, where he held several positions, including managing editor for the company's elementary, middle and high school science and language arts titles. He was later promoted to manager of operations and planning for the language arts department. As editor-in-chief at Thinkwell, Wahlgren will be responsible for the editorial vision of Thinkwell's titles. He will oversee a staff of editorial employees, including content advisors, curriculum directors and editors.

· Kinko's, Inc., a provider of document solutions and business services, announced the appointment of Gary Kusin as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective August 6. He also will become a member of the company's Board of Directors. Mr. Kusin succeeds George Tamke, a principal of Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, Inc. (CD&R), who will become Chairperson of Kinko's Board of Directors.

· Hearst Magazines International (HMI) President and CEO George Green announced that the company will introduce three new international editions of CosmoGIRL! magazine this fall in the United Kingdom, Indonesia and Hong Kong.

· Eric Hollreiser has been named Senior Vice President, Media Relations for ABC Cable Networks Group, it was announced by Anne M. Sweeney, President, ABC Cable Networks Group and President Disney Channel Worldwide. Hollreiser will direct all public relations activities for the wholly owned, worldwide properties of the group including Disney Channel, Toon Disney, SoapNet and the recently announced Playhouse Disney. He will manage the department responsible for all network relations, strategic publicity and long-term planning on behalf of the group's sales, marketing, programming and affiliate relations divisions.

· Omnexus, an emarketplace for the plastics industry, has launched Omnexus News Direct, a global daily news service offering plastics professionals up-to-date information on current industry news and advancements. Delivered daily by email, this latest addition to the Omnexus site provides in-depth coverage of industry events, plant expansions, new developments in materials and equipment, process technology, end-use applications, design advancements, and industry personnel moves.

· UnderGroundOnline, the entertainment website for 18-34 year-old males on the Web, announced it has reached 6.8 million unique visitors for May 2001 according to Media Metrix. UGO, which is comprised of 500 affiliated sites including recently acquired bla-bla.com, is currently ranked 44th on the list of US Top 50 Internet Properties.

· Southern Boating Publications has announced the appointment of Tim Banse as executive editor of Marine Business Journal and Southern Boating magazines. Prior to his new appointment, Banse served for many years as a contributing editor to Motor Boating magazine where he specialized in marine engine coverage, as well as writing boat tests, feature articles, and contributing to the Boatkeeper section for do-it-yourselfers. Southern Boating's 40,000+ circulation concentrates on readers in the 13 sunbelt states in the Southeastern United States, as well as throughout the Caribbean basin.

· The International Herald Tribune (IHT), an international newspaper, and NewsStand, Inc., a publishing technology provider, announced an agreement for NewsStand, Inc. to serve as the digital circulation service for the International Herald Tribune.

· Salon Media Group, an Internet media company, announced the launch of SalonWire, a subscription service featuring a daily text display of all Salon.com articles available for syndication. Under the new business-to-business service, subscribing companies can access, via Web browser, full text of approximately 100 new Salon.com articles each week. Subscribers are granted permission to reprint Salon.com content and pay for stories on a per-article basis.

· The Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games (SLOC) and NBC have announced a joint agreement with MSNBC.com and the MSN network of Internet services to produce, host and distribute the official websites for the Olympic Winter Games of 2002 and NBC's coverage of the Games. The site, which consumers will be able to access from NBCOlympics.com, saltlake2002.com, and olympics.com, will be produced by MSNBC and promoted through MSN. The site also will be promoted throughout NBC's television coverage of the Games on NBC, CNBC and MSNBC.

· Franklin Electronic Publishers, Inc., a provider of electronic book reading devices, announced that it has retained Gerard Klauer Mattison (GKM) as its financial advisor. GKM, the New York investment bank, will assist Franklin in establishing strategic relationships.
