Posted on July 10, 2001

HBO Family, has announced the launch of Dead Mysteries, a Web-only mystery series. Deadwood Mysteries was developed by Planet Grande Pictures, a Malibu, California-based production company which produced mainly documentary, special event and reality-based programming as well as Web-based entertainment.

Sixteen year-old Deadwood, Ore. teenager, Jessica Fisher, has vanished into thin air. Her family, friends, and even the FBI, are desperately looking for her. With the help of Jessica's sister Rachel, three of her best friends have created a website to help uncover the dark mystery behind her disappearance and the legend surrounding other missing teens in the area since the 1800's.

In the first Web-only series of its kind from HBO, the eerily imaginative Deadwood Mysteries at HBOFamily.com delves deeply into the strange events leading up to and following Jessica's sudden absence. From July 16 through November 1, young people will be able to assume active roles and become part of the investigation by examining and collecting evidence, checking out leads, questioning theories, sharing ideas as well as gathering additional clues from weekly episodic trailers on the HBO Family channel.

``Pre-teens and teens today are Web savvy,'' said Dolores Morris, vice president, HBO Family. ``They know how to surf the net and design their own websites, so we knew we would have to challenge them with a positive, creative, and interactive site that has original and cutting-edge components. Deadwood Mysteries provides such an experience.''

The Deadwood Mysteries website includes streaming audio and video, QuickTime VR and Flash 5.0 features. The website provides lots of information about the case include journals and emails from Jessica's sister and friends; local newspaper articles and incident reports; background checks into the lives of local Deadwood residents; an overview of Deadwood, Ore. and the history behind other missing teens; discussion boards; FBI Files and chats.
