The portal provides consumers free individually tailored health information and resources to help them achieve personal health goals. Consumers can access this information by visiting Catholic Healthcare West's website and selecting ``My Health'' or by visiting the websites 33 of Catholic Health West's hospitals. Nine more hospital sites will be added over the next six months. · TMP Worldwide Inc., the parent company of career portal Monster.com, announced that on June 29th, it acquired FastWeb, a scholarship website. · Scott Ware, editor of The Albuquerque Tribune, has been named editor of The Sun in Bremerton, Wash., effective Aug. 1. Kelly Brewer, The Tribune's managing editor, will succeed Ware as editor in Albuquerque, also effective Aug. 1. Ware succeeds Brian Stallcop, who is leaving The Sun to become a stockbroker. The Albuquerque Tribune and The Sun are owned and operated by The E. W. Scripps Company. The Tribune, publishes six days a week, Monday through Saturday. It has a daily circulation of about 19,000 newspapers. The Sun, a morning newspaper, publishes seven days a week, with a daily circulation of about 34,000. · The Los Angeles Times, which recently implemented a much design redesign of its website, has named Marc Duvoisin as assistant managing editor. He had previously served as assistant managing editor for enterprise with The Philadelphia Inquirer. Duvoisin will oversee editing of Column One and Sunday Report, both of which appear on The Times' front page, as well as major enterprise and special projects across all departments. He will assume his position in August and will report to Dean Baquet, managing editor of The Times. · West Group, a provider of electronic information and solutions to the U.S. legal market, announced the July 14 launch of My Westlaw -- a legal research technology that allows users of westlaw.com to create their own personalized Westlaw. With the new tools researchers can now select the databases, shortcuts (e.g., quick entry points for Find or KeyCite) and search tools (e.g., thesaurus, preferred terms) they want. · Janex International, Inc. -- a manufacturer, and distributor of products for kids, announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire 60% ownership of Joy Berry Books, a company specializing in kids' self-help print and electronic books authored by Joy Berry. Joy Berry has published over 250 books that have sold over 80 million copies and have generated over $200 million in gross revenues. Joy will bring her leadership team with her to Janex. The team includes Robert Zaloba, a president/CEO, who has over 20 years of management experience in the publishing industry. Janex will showcase the Joy Berry product line on its website: okid.com. · Earful of Books, an audiobooks-only chain, has gone public by absorbing American Absorbents Natural Products, Inc., both based in Austin, Texas. Barso Global Management, Ltd. of Toronto, Canada, has been retained to sell AANP's primary assets, a zeolite mine and its plant in south central Oregon. · American Lawyer Media, Inc. (ALM), a legal journalism and information company, announced the promotion of three executives to new positions in the company's corporate legal and financial departments. Stephen Jacobs, currently Vice President, Corporate Affairs and General Counsel, has been named Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He succeeds Leslye Katz, who has resigned from the company. In addition, Allison Hoffman has been appointed Vice President, General Counsel, and Eric Lundberg has been named Vice President, Finance. · Hungry Minds Inc., a publisher of how-to books, has named John D. Giordano to its Board of Directors. Mr. Giordano was, until just recently, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Westborough, Massachusetts-based Peritus Software Services Inc., a provider of solutions for software maintenance technology and services. He was appointed to the position in April, 1999, after joining Peritus in September, 1998 as Chief Financial Officer. · Penguin Putnam, an adult and book publisher, has named public relations firm Pryor & Associates, LLC to direct a yearlong 100th anniversary celebration of Peter Rabbit, a character that is the focal point of the company's Beatrix Potter brand. Devising special anniversary activities and coordinating media coverage for Peter Rabbit throughout the U.S. over the next 12 months, Pryor & Associates will be working with many of the more than 200 companies worldwide, which currently license Beatrix Potter merchandise.
