· Modern Bride Group, a bridal company and a property of Primedia Inc., has unveiled a new website at ModernBride.com. ModernBride.com now offers users wedding planning tools along with Modern Bride magazine's content. Features include bridal registry, honeymoon and travel booking, gown finder, shopping, and the ability to create a personalized website for guests to visit. ModernBride.com also serves grooms through MarryingMan.com, a resource for grooms.

· Meredith Corporation has named Kirk Black as the new Vice President/General Manager of KCTV, the Meredith CBS affiliate serving Kansas City, Mo. Black has been the General Manager at WNEM-TV, Meredith's Flint/Saginaw, Mich., CBS affiliate, for the past two and a half years. Prior to that, he was the Vice President/General Manager at WIBW-TV in Topeka, Kan. Black replaces John Rose as the General Manager at KCTV. Rose retired at the end of June, taking advantage of a voluntary early retirement package offered by Meredith Corporation.

· Two horticultural industry information providers, Branch-Smith Publishing and PlantFind.com, have formed a strategic marketing alliance. Since 1915, the goal of Branch-Smith Publishing has been to provide green-industry members with the tools and information they need to succeed. PlantFind.com was created by a group of notable industry professionals and allows growers to participate at several different levels - from receiving request for quotes to complete online sales. Currently, inventories for more than 1,500 growers are listed on PlantFind.com. Branch-Smith Publishing produces four monthly magazines: Nursery Management & Production (NMPRO), Greenhouse Management & Production (GMPRO), Garden Center Merchandising & Management (Garden Center), and Garden Center Products & Supplies (GCP&S). Branch-Smith's also runs Green Beam, an industry website.

· Northern Light Technology has announced a strategic alliance with Yahoo! Inc., to make available its premium content and search services available on the Corporate Yahoo!Enterprise Information Portal.

· Standard Media International announced that it has appointed Jonathan Schwartz, vice president, associate group publisher for the West Coast. Standard CEO Rich Marino announced the appointment. In his new role, Schwartz will responsible for leading the West Coast sales team in driving ad revenue for The Industry Standard across all media. Schwartz comes to The Standard from HVC Technologies, where he was the vice president of sales. Prior to HVC Technologies, Schwartz held several sales and sales management positions at Ziff-Davis Publishing Company, most recently as West Coast ad director for Smart Business.

· Forbes.com has unveiled a redesign of its website. Highlights of the site's redesign include: a new home page with faster, easier navigation and access to more services, tools and timely reporting. The organization of content into seven new editorial channels of core Forbes expertise, with similar content aggregated in one place: Business, Technology, Markets, Work, Personal Finance, Lifestyle and Lists. Expanded functionality with relevant news, tools and enhanced services embedded in each channel.

· Classroom Connect, Inc., announced that it has formed two new content relationships for its online subscription service, Classroom Connect Now. Time For Kids, a print and online magazine from the creators of Time magazine, and Natural Habitat Adventures, a nature travel company, are highlighted on Classroom Connect Now. Classroom Connect Now featuresTime For Kids' daily news headlines in its Classroom Learning section and elsewhere on the site. Headlines link students to the related stories at Timeforkids.com. Time For Kids is also part of the Classroom Connect Reference Shelf. Natural Habitat Adventures has agreed to host Classroom Connect personnel on a number of trips throughout the year to areas rich in the study of natural sciences. The Classroom Connect representatives will collect text, photos, audio clips, video footage, and other multimedia data to be used in Classroom Connect's Classroom Learning resources, including the new ``Spotlight on Nature'' features. Natural Habitat will provide additional content for Classroom Connect's Web Units on a freelance basis, including photos, videos, text and access to experts.

· Alloy Online, Inc., a Generation Y media and direct marketing company, announced a partnership with CosmoGirl! magazine and its companion website, Cosmogirl.com. Alloy will design the site, provide technology tools and host the magazine's online destination using content generated by the CosmoGirl! editorial team. Additionally, Alloy will provide advertising and marketing services for Cosmogirl.com. The site will go live on August 6, 2001.

· A feature documentary film on legendary newspaper editor Jim Bellows, titled The Last Editor has begun production and the project's website, www.TheLastEditor.com has launched. The film, from the producers of the PBS series, The Living Century, will premiere on television in early 2002, around the publication of Jim Bellows' memoirs, The Last Editor: How I Saved The New York Times, the Washington Post, and the L.A. Times (from dullness and complacency). The film features many writers and artists who worked with Jim including Jimmy Breslin, Tom Wolfe, Art Buchwald, Paul Conrad, Jack Germond, Barbara Howar, Leonard Maltin, David Halberstam, Pat Oliphant, Dick Schaap, Caroline Graham, Diana McLellan, Diane K. Shah, Richard Wald, Marcia Bullard, Mary Anne Dolan and Walter Anderson. The Last Editor is being produced by Reverie Productions; produced and directed by Steven Latham and Christopher Carson; associate produced by Robert Kirk and Rob Lihani.

· Ebizz4Sale Magazine is a new monthly hardcopy publication created to connect ebusiness owners with potential buyers, investors and partners worldwide. The magazine, billed ``The Internet's E-business Exchange Publication'' and published by Ebizz4sale Ltd., will be available in October 2001. Businesses for sale will be listed in classified ads. The debut issue will not contain articles.

· CMP Asia is the new name of Miller Freeman Asia, provider of business-to-business information. It is now taking the same name as its sister media companies, all of which are owned by United Business Media plc (UBM). The CMP umbrella encompasses CMP Media, CMP Europe, CMP Healthcare, CMP Information and CMP Asia. Globally, CMP owns over 400 media products, including more than 170 trade events and 220 publications and online products

· Hollinger Canadian Newspapers, Limited Partnership, Hollinger International Inc. and Hollinger Inc. announced that most of the remaining Canadian newspapers of Hollinger L.P. have been sold for approximately CDN $220 million, subject to adjustments. Included in this sale were community newspapers in Ontario such as The Kingston Whig-Standard, The Sault Star and the Peterborough Examiner.

· CityXpress.com Corp announced that E. W. Scripps Company (Scripps), headquartered in Cincinnati, OH, is launching CityXpress Special Sections at its newspapers' websites. The first Scripps newspaper, The Sun of Bremerton, WA,, will introduce a CityXpress Home & Garden Special Section in late August 2001. CityXpress produces and licenses a series of Xpress Special Sections including Home & Garden, Outdoors & Recreation, Dining & Entertainment, Health & Wellness, Weddings, and Business & Professional Services.

· Riverdeep Group plc, a developer and distributor of interactive learning solutions for kindergarten through high school (K-12), announced the appointment of James P. Levy to the role of Executive Vice Chairman. Levy will assume responsibility for all educational operations including sales, marketing, product strategy and academic services. Levy will report directly to Barry O'Callaghan, Riverdeep's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining Riverdeep, Levy served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Harcourt, Inc., a leading US and international educational publisher.

· Lightning Source Inc., a provider of print-on-demand and digital fulfillment services, has announced the official opening of its Lightning Source UK Ltd. offices. The new facility located in Milton Keynes houses a full service distribution center complete with a digital content management system, digital web-fed print line and paper cover bindery. Lightning Source UK Ltd. will provide print-on-demand services utilizing Lightning's one-at-a-time digital print capability.

· AIRS, a provider of e-recruitment training and information services, announced that CEO Michael Foster has signed a contract with McGraw-Hill to write a book about e-recruitment. The book -- tentatively titled e-Recruiting: Smart Strategies for Finding the Perfect Candidate Online -- will provide executives, managers and recruitment professionals with a strategic map to Internet recruiting. It will also share proprietary AIRS techniques for profiling, hunting and hiring the best passive candidates on the Web.

· Showtime Networks has greenlit its latest series from MGM, a new Sci-Fi series, Jeremiah, starring Luke Perry (``Beverly Hills, 90210'') and Malcolm-Jamal Warner (``Malcolm & Eddie''), it was announced by Hank Cohen, President of MGM Television Entertainment. Created for television by sci-fi icon J. Michael Straczynski (Creator & Executive Producer of ``Babylon 5''), Jeremiah is based on Platinum Studios' award-winning graphic novel series by Belgian author Hermann Huppen.
