IDEV Launches Content Management Resource

Posted on August 8, 2001

IDEV, a content solutions company in Silver Spring, MD, has launched CMSWatch, a website designed to provide independent analysis on web content management software solutions and practices, as well as related industry developments. CMSWatch offers content management news headlines, interviews with industry leaders, opinion pieces, hot topic trends and explanations, product information, and comparative analyses.

Web content management has risen to the fore because organizations with rapidly-growing websites are now finding themselves dealing with complex publishing issues, often for the first time. Addressing the challenges of editorial workflow, content distribution, and archiving has therefore crept into their daily business processes. But the plethora of content management technology solutions has created tremendous confusion in the marketplace.

CMSWatch Managing Editor and industry veteran, Tony Byrne explained, "our goal is to demystify web content management. If you believe that content lies at the heart of ebusiness, then how you manage, organize, and present it is critical to your firms success online."

The site also offers The CMS Report, a detailed primer on the process of planning, selecting, and implementing a web content management solution that includes a review of 16 leading software packages. A sample report chapter is available for free. The full report may be purchased online.

IDEV believes that web content management is the defining web development challenge for the next several years. The company, an eight year-old professional services firm, is reorganizing itself to provide in-depth content management solutions to its clients. The firm is building a content management laboratory at its Silver Spring offices and partnering with key technology providers. Some of its clients include Playbill Online, McGraw-Hill, Thompson Publishing Group, Loctite Corporation, and the Smithsonian.

"We have always excelled at content-heavy website design and development," noted IDEV President Bruce Lupin, "but now we are focusing our R&D efforts and strengthening relationships with key platform providers."
