Ms. Garrison has been with Primedia Business Magazines & Media (formerly Intertec Publishing) since 1998. She is responsible for all internal and external corporate communications, including public relations, employee communication, marketing communication strategy and the company's intranet and external website (primediabusiness.com). · Veteran journalist James Peter Rubin has joined Hunt-Scanlon Publishing as Editor-in-Chief. In his new role, Mr. Rubin will direct editorial content at Hunt-Scanlon, including overseeing two recruiting-focused monthly newsletters, Executive Search Review and Online Recruiting Strategist, as well as the company's market intelligence research reports. Mr. Rubin will also oversee Hunt-Scanlon's online recruiting newswire services and expand its international industry coverage. · iLearning, Inc., a provider of web-based training and communication solutions, announced the appointment of Cheryl W. Geltzeiler has joined the company as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Geltzeiler will oversee all of Reader's Digest's global financial operations. He replaces George Scimone who plans to pursue other opportunities. · Acclaim Entertainment, Inc., a video entertainment software developer and publisher, announced that it has appointed Sarah Anderson to the position of Senior Vice President of Brand. Reporting directly to Gregory Fischbach, Chief Executive Officer of Acclaim, Anderson will be responsible for spearheading a strategic corporate initiative to develop and expand upon the company's existing franchises, as well the ongoing creation of new brands. · Univision Communications Inc., a Spanish-language media company, announced that Ray Rodriguez, Univision Network President, has been named President and Chief Operating Officer, Univision Networks. With this appointment, Rodriguez will now be responsible for overseeing all network operations, including the Univision Network, Telefutura Network, Galavision and Univision Sports. Rodriguez will remain based in Miami and will continue to report to A. Jerrold Perenchio, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Univision Communications. Lucia Ballas-Traynor, General Manager of Galavision and David Downs, President of Univision Sports, will continue to serve in their current roles and will now report to Rodriguez. · Vivendi Universal Interactive Publishing North America (VUIPNA) announced that Anita Frazier has been appointed Vice President of Kids Sales. According to the terms of the agreement Books24x7 will offer select Crisp publications to subscribers via its BusinessPro website, as well as in custom subset web-based collections. Books24x7 subscribers via the web will be able to browse, search and read select titles from Crisp's best-selling publications covering business and people skills, including its Fifty Minute series. · Waveshift, Inc., an applications and services provider to the newspaper industry, announced that MediaNews Group has signed a licensing agreement for Waveshift's YourTown.Net and MyCalendar products. YourTown.Net is a community-publishing tool that allows newspaper publishers to act as the online host for community groups and non-profit organizations. MediaNews Group maintains 74 websites for its daily newspapers and plans to launch as many as forty-two YourTown and MyCalendar sites in the next sixty days. Among the company's larger newspapers are The Denver Post, The Los Angeles Daily News and The Salt Lake Tribune. · Aspatore Books has announced its Fall/Winter 2001 catalogue, featuring 52 books written by an author list of C-level (CEO, CFO, CMO, CTO) executives from well known companies. Launches and Redesigns · In an effort to answer the question ``What IT certification is best for me?'' MediaTec Publishing Inc., publishers of Certification Magazine and IT Contractor magazine, have launched a new website, ITcertinfo.com. This site joins and interacts with MediaTec's other Web properties, CertMag.com and ITCmagazine.com, and its e-newsletters. ITcertinfo.com offers information on IT certifications, which users can select by desired career path, vendor or certification acronym. · Learning Network, a website for parents, students and teachers, announced the launch of the Kids' Learning Network (KLN), which provides games, lifestyle magazines, school help, and on-line talk shows. KLN offers two core areas -- ``Goof-Off Time'' and ``School Help''. · Network Communications, Inc. (NCI), at provider of real estate advertising and publishing (The Real Estate Book, Apartment Blue Book/Apartment Finder Blue Book, Unique Homes and others), announced an agreement with Citysearch, a business operated by Ticketmaster, to build a real estate industry resource. The new resource, LivingChoices.com, provides real estate content including homes for sale, luxury properties, apartment homes, proximity searches, enhanced listings and advertiser profiles. Viewers can print a brochure on each property and make use of mortgage estimators and mapping tools. · Achieve Communications, publisher of Inside Education magazine, announced the official launch of the redesigned InsideEducation.net website. Miscellaneous · The percentage of Internet users who have ever tried streaming media has crossed the 50 percent threshold according to a new Internet Study by Arbitron Inc. and Edison Media Research. The ``Internet VII: The Internet & Streaming: What Consumers Want Next'' study finds that, as of July 2001, the number of ``Streamies'' - those who have watched or listened to streaming media online - has risen to 52 percent of online Americans. More than a third (34 percent) of all Americans aged 12 and older are classified as Streamies which is approximately 78 million people.
