Lou Dobbs to Author Business Narrative for Doubleday

Lou Dobbs, the anchor and managing editor of CNN's financial news program Lou Dobbs Moneyline, has signed with Doubleday to publish a book on his experience and from his perspective as a preeminent television business journalist. Stephen Rubin, President and Publisher, Doubleday Broadway, announced the acquisition of Mr. Dobbs' book. Wayne S. Kabak of the William Morris Agency in New York represented Lou Dobbs in his discussions with Doubleday.

In his as yet untitled book, Dobbs will profile and candidly assess the business leaders he has interviewed and followed over the course of his career at CNN, as well as offer insight into companies and economic and business events and trends. Doubleday has acquired first serial, audio, ebook, and North American book rights and will publish the book in hardcover under its Currency imprint in Fall 2002.

``The economy, the financial markets, and the face of business journalism itself are being transformed,'' said Dobbs. ``I am hoping that, by sharing the stories of many of the extraordinary people I have come to know, both on camera and behind the scenes, this book will bring to life this period of unprecedented change.''

Said Roger Scholl, Currency's Executive Editor, who acquired and will edit the book: ``Lou Dobbs has built a peerless reputation as a pioneer in business journalism and as a trusted and incisive news commentator. His reflections and reminiscences, delivered in his inimitable style, will provide readers with an entertaining and informative look at the figures, forces, and events that have shaped our recent economic and financial history and those that will forge our future.''

A founding member of the CNN network as well as CNN's financial news division, Mr. Dobbs became anchor of Moneyline in 1980. During his tenure at the network, he helped develop CNN financial news and oversaw the launch of CNNfn and CNNfn.com in December 1995. He managed the network as president of CNNfn and executive vice president of CNN until June 1999. In 1999, Dobbs left CNN to launch Space.com, a multimedia company dedicated to space and space-related content. He returned to CNN in 2001 to his current position. He also anchors a financial news radio report that is syndicated by United Stations Radio Networks, Inc. to 785 stations nationwide.
