BritannicaSchool, a division of Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc., launched its BritannicaSchool website, a website for the K-12 education community. The BritannicaSchool website is available to schools by subscription. Encyclopaedia Britannica has been focusing more on fee-based subscription content after switching its free Britannica.com encyclopedia website to a subscription based service.

BritannicaSchool was first unveiled at last June's National Educational Computing Conference in Chicago. The website includes techer tools includes custom-designed assignments, study groups and lesson plans; learning materials including interactive study guides, lessons, labs, databases and website resources; and reference materials including encyclopedias; dictionaries, web guide, journals, magazines and thesaurus.

``Britannica has been serving educators for more than 50 years, so we put the teaching and learning process, not technology, at the center of our efforts,'' said Ilan Yeshua, chief executive officer of Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc. ``Our aim is to help teachers teach the way they know how, not to reinvent teaching; and to provide a product that delivers a real education benefit in today's classroom.''
