TechTarget to Launch Storage Magazine

Posted on October 4, 2001

TechTarget, a technology media company, announced that it is launching Storage magazine, a new publication to provide storage executives with analysis and guidance on managing, storing, networking, and safeguarding stored datas. Beginning in March 2002, TechTarget will distribute the magazine to a qualified, controlled circulation of 50,000 executives and managers. TechTarget currently operates SearchStorage.com, and Storage Decisions, a storage conference.

``When storage professionals need information to help them do their jobs, they turn to TechTarget media more than any other information source in the world,'' said Greg Strakosch, CEO, TechTarget. ``We hold this leadership position because we have a thorough knowledge of the storage industry and because we consistently focus on the needs of storage professionals. We recognize that storage decision-makers are looking for a publication to provide objective, comparative, insightful information that justifies their decisions. Storage will fill that gap in the media landscape.''

``Never have the decisions about storage been more complex--or more important--than now,'' said Mark Schlack, editor-in-chief, Storage. ``Yet, no publication exists to provide the in-depth analysis and strategic advice that storage professionals need to do their jobs. Our research among the more than 200,000 storage professionals affiliated with TechTarget media--and our experience from the tremendous response we received to our inaugural conference, Storage Decisions 2001--shows that storage professionals need in-depth technology assessments, comparative assessments of storage products and services, technically focused user case studies and information that drives the business strategy behind storage solutions.''

Together with TechTarget's storage-focused websites and email newsletters, Storage magazine aims to provide storage decision-makers with information they need to purchase the right technology from the right vendors, integrate and deploy it in the right fashion, and manage their staff to optimize storage operations. Storage will also provide the story behind the news and technical advice delivered online, analyzing technology and product trends, adoption and use by IT departments, and the managerial issues that arise from that use.

Storage Editor-in-Chief Mark Schlack is an award-winning journalist and editor with more than 18 years' experience with IT media. Schlack held the position of editor-in-chief of BYTE from 1995 to 1998. Schlack served most recently as vice president and editorial director for ITWorld.com. Schlack will be assisted in his editorial duties by Paul Gillin. Gillin is the former editor-in-chief of Computerworld. IT publishing veteran Kevin Beam will lead the publishing team behind Storage. Prior to TechTarget, Beam served as vice president of the technology division for business-to-business media company United Communications Group (UCG).
