OverDrive, Inc. announced at the Frankfurt Book Fair that its Content Reserve business has extended its secure distribution services for publishers and resellers to support Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) for the Adobe Acrobat eBook Reader. Using Adobe Content Server, Content Reserve now provides websites the ability to resell Adobe PDF-based ebook titles and provides catalog information and digital rights management for the products. OverDrive also announced a distribution agreement with MightyWords for the company's PDF-based business and technical digital content library.

``We are excited that distribution, fulfillment, and DRM services for Adobe eBook products are now available to our international network of publishers and resellers,'' said Steve Potash, chief executive officer of OverDrive. ``Plus, MightyWords' powerful collection of thousands of premium titles in business and technical categories provides a ready warehouse of must-have, need-to-know, Adobe PDF-based eBooks for websites to offer readers worldwide.''

``OverDrive has always been a leader in providing e-commerce and security solutions to content industries,'' said James Alexander, director of eBooks for Adobe. ``With the company now embracing Adobe's eBook solutions, OverDrive's international network can tap into the benefits brought by Adobe PDF-based eBooks. These include advanced representations of graphics, CoolType technology, a two-page layout, electronic bookmarks, quick text search, access to the Web and an interactive dictionary.''

Adobe Content Server enables publishers, online content distributors and resellers to secure and sell Adobe Portable Document Format- (PDF) based ebooks. Last week in London WHSmith.co.uk, the interactive arm of UK bookseller WHSmith, opened its eBookstore to offer thousands of ebook titles from Content Reserve including those published by MightyWords.
