Windows Developer's Journal Becomes Windows Developer Magazine

Under the leadership of new Executive Editor John Dorsey, CMP Media's Windows Developer's Journal will become Windows Developer Magazine, starting with the November 2001 issue. The expanded coverage in Windows Developer will broaden the audience, increasing circulation from its current 30,000 level to 40,000 in the February 2002 issue.

The rename highlighted by a complete redesign was implemented to reflect the dramatic change in the Windows development environment. According to Executive Editor Dorsey, ``Microsoft is transforming both its development tools and its operating system from the ground up to fully exploit the Internet. New standards are opening up opportunities to go beyond the desktop.''

In parallel, publisher Martha Masinton said, ``Our readers have told us that they need to learn more about the tools, languages, and protocols that define the Internet development environment. They've asked for coverage of C#, VB.Net, Java, Python, and Perl -- and they'll find it in Windows Developer Magazine.''

Executive Editor John Dorsey comes to Windows Developer from Dr. Dobb's Journal, where he had been Senior Editor of Digital Media. He helped to launch Java Pro magazine at Fawcette Technical Publishing, and, prior to that, developed content and software at inquiry.com, an early Web startup.
