Bradford, formerly vice president and director of North America Advertising Sales at Business Week, has agreed to join the company as vice president and chief media revenue officer of MSN. · 24/7 Media, Inc., an interactive marketing company, announced that Richard Burns and Robert J. Perkins have been appointed to the Company's Board of Directors. Mr. Burns is the president and chief executive officer of Thomson Financial Media, a company holding the banking, insurance and electronic commerce media assets of The Thomson Corporation. Mr. Perkins was most recently a partner at the Peppers and Rogers Group, a global customer relationship management consulting firm · Paperloop, the parent company of magazines such as Pulp & Paper International and Pulp & Paper, has hired Graeme Rodden as the company's new European Editorial Director. In his new position, Rodden will lead Paperloop's editorial team in Brussels, and have editorial responsibility for both the publications and information developed from the company's European headquarters there, including magazines, newsletters, directories, special reports, and the news and information offered through paperloop.com. · John W. Maisel joined the National Electrical Contractors Association's (NECA) Electrical Contractor magazine as the new publisher. Maisel comes to NECA from Chicago, IL with over 20 years of experience in publishing sales and marketing management for McGraw-Hill, Cahners Publishing Company, and smaller ventures in education, design, healthcare and food service. Content Deals · Sackett Business Media, Inc., an Illinois-based trade publishing company and Internet resource group, announced has purchased Metal Center News from the Metal Bulletin Group. The magazine serves the metals distribution industry. Sackett Business Media, Inc. launches with this purchase. Sackett Business Media President Nancy Hartley most recently served as Group Publisher for Cahners Business Media. She and Sackett's Chief Financial Officer Craig Schroeder both worked for Cygnus Business Media for several years and will retain an ownership position in the new corporation. · ebizChronicle.com has announced a content partnership with strategy+business, a quarterly magazine published by Booz Allen Hamilton. · Simon & Schuster Audio and FranklinCovey announced that Simon & Schuster has become the new distributor of FranklinCovey's audiobooks, effective October 1, 2001. Simon & Schuster Audio will sell and distribute both frontlist and backlist FranklinCovey titles. · MSNBC.com, an Internet news site, has signed a content distribution agreement with Good News 4 ME (GN4ME), an Arabic language portal. MSNBC.com will provide selected news and information enhanced with streaming audio and video to the Arab Region at gn4msnbc.com. The alliance marks the first news content agreement in the region for MSNBC.com. Under the terms of this agreement, GN4ME will become MSNBC.com's Arabic language portal. Launches and Redesigns · America Online, Inc., has announced the launch of its new version, AOL 7.0. AOL says the latest version integrates local programming into every part of the service, provides access to high-speed audio and video content, and introduces new music and entertainment features. · GoodThings, Inc., a Seattle-based media company, announced the launch of ``The GoodBuzz'', a world news supplement featuring positive, constructive and innovative stories on happenings from communities all over the world. The GoodBuzz is delivered via email each business day. · Poultry magazine, a trade publication for the U.S. Poultry processing industry, debuts a redesign with its October/November 2001 issue. The October/November issue introduces a new staff and a new look. The team of editors is led by Executive Editor Yvonne Vizzier Thaxton, a professor of Poultry science at Mississippi State University and 30-year veteran of the Poultry processing industry. Working closely with Dr. Thaxton are Senior Editor Joshua Lipsky and Contributing Editor Simon Shane, Ph.D. Poultry magazine is published bi-monthly by Marketing & Technology Group. · Warren Communications News has announced the launch of Consumer Electronics Daily, a daily publication covering the electronics business sector. Warren Communications News, which publishes the weekly Consumer Electronics, will publish Consumer Electronics Daily every business day. Target subscribers include industry manufacturers, retailers, distributors and content providers, as well as analysts and policymakers. An annual subscription to the Daily will be $1,445 during an introductory period. · VNU Business Publications USA announced that it will merge its leading food retail publications, Supermarket Business and Progressive Grocer, in order to create the largest magazine serving the food retailing industry. The new magazine will operate under the name Progressive Grocer. The first issue of the merged publication will be available January 2002. The new Progressive Grocer will provide coverage of news developments, product trends, human resource issues, and management strategies to executives, buyers, and store managers at food retailing chains and independent food retailers. The magazine, which will be tabloid size, will increase their number of print issues from 12 to 18 per year. · DigitalWork, Inc., has expanded its online business center solution by partnering with Entrepreneur to add small business information and content. Entrepreneur will design, develop and distribute DigitalWork's iWork Advisor small business online magazine. This bi-monthly newsletter will be distributed to over 300,000 small businesses that have subscribed through online business centers developed and managed by DigitalWork. These online business centers are managed by DigitalWork for companies such as American Express, Dell Computer, and Lycos. Miscellaneous · Salon Media Group, a new media company, announced that its three fee-based services -- Salon Premium, Table Talk and The Well -- have collectively surpassed 25,000 paying subscribers. Salon Premium, the company's content-based subscription service launched in late April, has generated over 20,000 of Salon Media Group's 25,000 subscriptions. Recently, Salon moved all of its war on terrorism related content into its premium section to attract more subscribers.
