Damez Media Launches Glossy Fashion Magazine and Catalog

Posted on November 7, 2001

Damez is a new publication and catalog for young women from Damez Media. Damez combines magazine and catalog features by offering content combined with catalog shopping. Readers can order from the pages of its fashion layouts by dialing a toll free number. Damez will be a free publication, with revenue generated through advertising and its catalogue sales.

Damez celebrity editorial provides a forum whereby celebrities discuss topics such as social issues, politics, the environment, family, and health-related matters. In the premier issue, Drew Barrymore discusses how the Attack on America has affected her, Sex and the City's Kristin Davis answers readers' questions on sex, David Boreanaz talks about life and love and Elisa Donovan (Sabrina the Teenage Witch) takes pen to paper to recount losing a friend to AIDS and the importance of practicing safe sex. Damez also publishes articles written by its readers, allowing young women to voice their opinions.

Another attribute of Damez is that it combines expert style advice with brand name catalog shopping. In the launch issue, Debra McGuire, the costume designer for Friends, picks her favorite holiday looks, all of which are available for purchase from Damez. Felicity's Tangi Miller is featured in a six-page fashion spread with items are available to order.

``Damez is the realization of the need for media that reflects the multi-dimensional, complicated minds of young women while still acknowledging the more light hearted aspects of the female psyche,'' explains 29 year old Kristi Kaylor, founder of Damez Media Inc. ``There is a tendency to divide women into the smart or beautiful category, but it is not an 'either or' proposition,'' says Kaylor. ``With Damez we are committed to delivering a magazine that represents its readers in an accurate, complete way.''

The premier issue of Damez will be sent to over 250,000 women ages 18-35 via direct mail, with additional distribution on college campuses and at over 25 retail doors. In its first year, Damez will publish six issues. After the Holiday Issue in November, the next issue will be published in February and will feature Kirsten Dunst.

Damez Media, Inc. is a privately held media company; it publishes Damez, a direct mail catalogue/magazine. Damez Media, Inc. founded by Kristi Kaylor was established in March of 2001 and is headquartered Los Angeles, CA. Kaylor's online media experience includes founding Voxxy.com in 1999, with Jennifer Aniston as the spokeswoman for the website.
