Web Techniques Becomes New Architect Magazine

Posted on November 17, 2001

CMP Media LLC announced that with the March 2002 issue, Web Techniques will become New Architect. New Architect will be a monthly print publication that serves technology leaders who are architecting their organizations' ebusiness foundations. New Architect is an evolution of CMP's Web Techniques, which delivers strategy, design, infrastructure, and development information to Internet managers. Launched in 1996, Web Techniques grew from Dr. Dobb's Journal, a magazine with a 25-year circulation history. New Architect magazine and New Architect Events are part of CMP Media's Internet & Mobile Group.

``Eight months of extensive research with our readers and vendors has shown us that organizations are integrating Internet technologies into business processes, and they're increasingly calling upon our readership to validate and integrate these new technologies for the organization,'' said Amit Asaravala, editor in chief of New Architect and editorial director of CMP Media's Internet & Mobile Group. ``In turn, our readers are looking for technically sophisticated information about products and services before they make a final purchase decision. To better serve them, we're going to focus closely on the critical decisions leaders must make when planning a technology architecture. And we're going to demonstrate how Internet and emerging technologies solve actual business problems.''

``The integration of the Internet, IT, and business practices are transforming established businesses, large and small,'' said Bob Melk, publisher of New Architect and group director of the CMP Internet & Mobile Group. ``What used to be stand-alone Internet or IT initiatives are now strategic business imperatives. Our readers are making the technically strategic decisions of what to deploy today and what to prepare for tomorrow. They need a magazine that informs those decisions.''

Fulfilling the tagline ``Internet strategies for technology leaders,'' the magazine aims to educate and inspire ``new architects'' by featuring analysis of the critical technologies needed to achieve strategic business objectives. Every issue will detail the benefits and advantages of adopting new technology solutions as well as strategies for overcoming challenges associated with new technology. New Architect will also offer case studies, expert opinions, and comparisons to help readers evaluate tools and services for ecommerce, Web hosting, digital rights management, and more. Available on newsstands February 15, 2002, New Architect's circulation will be approximately 140,000.
