ARP Launches Fitness RX Magazine

Posted on January 9, 2002

Advanced Research Press (ARP) launched its second publication, Fitness RX: Your Ultimate Prescription for the Perfect Body, when it hit newsstands on January 8th, 2002. The new magazine will focus on providing women with new scientific information in the areas of health, fitness and lifestyle. Advanced Research Press is a Setauket based company and publishes Fitness RX and Muscular Development, a body building magazine for men, and books on health, fitness and wellness.

The 158-page glossy premiere issue of Fitness RX has a circulation of 150,000 and will be available on newsstands across the country throughout January and February. The second issue of the magazine will be available in March. Each issue contains articles, information and facts from experts in the field of fitness and health. Fitness RX will explore areas of exercise, nutrition, health and wellness, supplementation, cosmetic enhancement, inner and outer beauty and sexual fulfillment.

``We believe there is a void in the market place for a magazine with information we can provide,'' said Steve Blechman, CEO and President. ``There is a growing population of younger and older women rapidly adding exercise and diet into their daily lives. We provide easy to read articles chock full of information to rookies and old timers of the fitness world. We promise to go where no other women's magazine has gone before by providing proven solutions from our experts in articles geared to motivate, inform and empower.''

The premiere issue of Fitness RX contains sections on Training, Diet & Fat Loss, Health & Beauty, Inspiration, Fat Blasting Food Recipes with full nutritional profiles, Features on Fat Loss, Perfect Abs, Rating the Low-Carb/High Protein Diets and Dying to be Thin. The issue also features full page descriptive and visual work-out demonstrations, Q&A with Shonna McCarver and a sex expert Q&A -- providing answers to questions pertaining to fitness and health while in the bedroom.

Steve Blechman hopes to grow his publishing business on Long Island in the next two years and aims to launch Fitness RX for men, Perfect Health, Mind & Body (a health and wellness magazine), and Malice for Men, a magazine that Blechman hopes will appeal to the young male audience to compete with Maxim. Blechman has a long history in the health and fitness industry and prior to purchasing ARP in June 2001 he was an executive vice president at Happauge-based Twinlab Corp., a manufacturer and marketer of nutritional supplements. His parents started the company and he still serves on the board of directors.
