HCI Launches Sally Jessy Raphael Book Imprint

Posted on January 18, 2002

Health Communications, Inc. (HCI) and Sally Jessy Raphael, journalist and talk show host, have introduced a collection of specially selected books: Sally Jessy Raphael's Red Eyeglass Series. HCI is best known for its bestselling Chicken Soup for the Soul series. Now in its 20th season, The Sally Jessy Raphael Show is nationally syndicated in almost 200 markets across America, and is seen in sixteen countries around the globe.

"After twenty years of producing my talk show, I know that it takes more time than a one-hour television program to explore the pervasive and troubling issues people face every day. By helping to publish these books, I feel that I am picking up where my television show ends. People have a strong need to connect to others who share their pain, and to know they are not alone in their personal plight. Then, they need information, community and a path to solutions. The Red Eyeglass Series should go a long way in fulfilling these needs," said talk show host Sally Jessy Raphael.

Sally Jessy Raphael has personally chosen the books in the Red Eyeglass Series. Thus far, two titles have been chosen under the new imprint. They are: Bullies: From the Playground to the Boardroom by Jane Middelton-Moz and Mary Lee Zawadski and The Motherhood Club: Help, Hope and Inspiration for New Mothers from New Mothers by Shirley Washington and Ann L. Dunnewold, Ph.D. The books will be released in February and March, respectively.

HCI president and publisher Peter Vegso said: "We are pleased to add the 'Sally Jessy Raphael's Red Eyeglass Series' division to our list of books. We share a common vision with Sally that reaches out to make a difference in the lives of our readers."
