R.R. Bowker Adds Content To Ulrichsweb.com

Posted on January 25, 2002

R.R. Bowker, a publisher of bibliographic information, announced two content deals for ulrichsweb.com, an online source for detailed information about periodicals. Ulrichsweb.com is a reference tool, providing access to information for over 250,000 serials from 80,000 publishers. R.R. Bowker is a provider of bibliographic information, and is also the official agency for assigning ISBNs in the United States.

The first new agreement is with Infotrieve, a Los Angeles-based company that provides article research and delivery. The new linking arrangement allows Ulrichsweb.com users to search the tables of contents available on Infotrieve for more than 20,000 scientific, technical and medical journals. From title-level entries in the Ulrich's database, users can view article citations, and from there, order full-text articles by clicking on embedded Infotrieve links.

The second new agreement is with Ingenta, which offers access to more than 25 million academic and professional research articles, including articles from 5,400 online journals.

"These two new linking arrangements make ulrichsweb.com an e ven more dynamic one-stop resource for librarians and their patrons worldwide, while also expanding accessibility through our site with two industry leaders on the Internet," said Michael Cairns, president of New Providence, N.J.-based R.R. Bowker. "This is another step in our ongoing business plan to integrate the renowned Ulrichsweb content with other important Web-based information resources."
