Professional Media Group (PMG) announced a merger between two leading business publications for college and university administrators -- New York City-based University Business and Norwalk, CT-based Matrix Magazine. The combined BPA-audited publication will be known as University Business (incorporating Matrix).

PMG Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, Joseph J. Hanson, said, "This merger presents an outstanding advantage for readers and advertisers of both editorially-vibrant publications. Each magazine has been committed to delivering practical, how-to business and marketing information to higher-education thought leaders, presidents, chancellors, business managers, marketers, admissions officers, financial and technology executives, facilities managers and other high-level administrators at America's 4,500 two- and four-year colleges and universities."

Editorial Director of University Business, Katherine Grayson, will continue to direct the editorial mission of the combined publication. However, the new University Business (incorporating Matrix) will include staff members from both magazines, including University Business Editor Patrick Clinton. Clinton, whose duties will include developing story ideas and writing feature articles, will also assist in the development of new products such as newsletters, supplements, online products and seminars. Grayson will work closely with Clinton on the combined publication, as well as with the development of ancillary editorial products for the publication's 37,000 readers.

"As the leading magazine for higher education business," stated Hanson, "it's critical that we maintain the high standards each magazine achieved individually. Our readers, who control more than $270 billion in annual expenditures, are accustomed to receiving unbiased performance-oriented information and we're committed to delivering it."

University Business (incorporating Matrix) is owned by University Media, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Norwalk-based Professional Media Group, LLC. University Business was previously published by New York-based Academic Partners, LLC. PMG Chairman Joseph J. Hanson has spent the past several years growing PMG into an education trade media publishing house focused on the administration of education, from kindergarten through college. PMG also publishes District Administration, a magazine for senior decision-makers in the K-12 market, and special educational supplements targeting current trends in education administration and classroom learning.
