Empire Media Launches New York Business Magazine

Posted on April 23, 2002

Empire NY magazine is a new monthly New York business magazine from the five-month-old Empire Media group. The company was formed to build an empire of publishing, broadcasting and interactive projects in several cities. Empire NY magazine is the first launch from the company. Empire NY will launch with a circulation of 40,000.

"In New York," says president and CEO Bill Britt, "a magazine that influences and imitates culture and business, is sorely needed. In fact, Empire NY is firmly grounded at the intersection of business and culture. Finally, New Yorkers can get real insight into how to succeed in an extremely competitive town."

Empire NY says the magazine produces a fresh twist on so-called traditional business magazines and features profiles with key - and unknown - New York business personalities. The first issue features Senator Hilary Clinton on the cover. In the cover story, Senator Hilary Clinton explains her strategy to ensure promised federal funds arrive in New York's coffers. The junior Senator also gives city businesses tips on cashing in on the bloated defense budget.

The founders of Empire Media include Bill Britt, former executive officer and publisher of AlleyCat News and CEO of independent media company Atlantic Metro Publishing; Peter Bordes, founder of media and technology accelerator E-Works, Inc. and Mason Cabot Investment and Chris Travers, former producer of international TV news agency Visnews and director of Reuters TV business in North and South America.
