Gaming Veterans to Launch Gaming Trade Publication

Two gaming journalists have joined forces to launch an international gaming trade publication, Global Gaming Business magazine. Roger Gros and Paul Dworin have nearly 50 years of combined experience covering and serving the gaming industry and plan to provide the gaming industry with a publication and website that will offer news, research and opinions. Global Gaming Business will appear twice a month and will focus on the casino gaming industry worldwide. Dworin anticipates that Global Gaming Business magazine will debut with its first issue on June 15, 2002.

Don Snyder, President of Boyd Gaming Corporation, believes that Gros and Dworin will produce a publication that will serve the needs of the gaming industry. "I've known Roger and Paul for many years and have admired their commitment to the industry. I'm confident that any magazine that they publish will reflect that commitment and dedication."

Gros, former editor of an industry trade magazine focused on North American gaming activities and founding editor of Casino Player magazine, believes Global Gaming Business fills a void in the gaming industry.

"We're confident we can bring a strong editorial focus to Global Gaming Business," says Gros. "The magazine will appear more frequently than the majority of trade publications, enabling us to provide up-to-the-minute news coverage. And because we have created alliances with many of the industry's most influential and innovative companies, much of the information inside will be exclusive to Global Gaming Business."

Dworin, the former publisher of an international gaming trade magazine and one of the founders of the World Gaming Congress trade show, says there is a need for a cutting-edge publication like Global Gaming Business.

"Roger and I have dedicated our lives to the gaming industry," Dworin says. "We're excited about building a company that will also be dedicated to serving the industry by providing accurate and complete information in an entertaining and easy-to-read format for busy gaming executives."

Along with a website and an electronic daily newsletter, Global Gaming Business will also be involved in conferences and television and radio broadcasting.

Global Gaming Business also announced the appointment of James Rutherford as managing editor. Rutherford has 20 years of experience in newspapers and magazines in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Philadelphia and southern New Jersey. He is also co-author of the book Trumped! The Inside Story of the Real Donald Trump (Simon & Schuster, 1991).
