Scribner plans to have them available in time for the upcoming school year. Some of the titles being converted to ebooks include A Farewell to Arms, The Sun also Rises, For Whom the Bell Tolls, The Old Man and the Sea and Ernest Hemingway on Writing. "The Hemingway collection is the cornerstone of Scribner's list," commented Susan Moldow, Executive Vice President and Publisher of Scribner. "With its enduring appeal to a huge international audience of general readers, students and academics, it is particularly gratifying to be able to offer these timeless works in publishing's first truly global format. This is an important first step in creating a complete, scholarly electronic library for Hemingway, as well as bringing our classic backlist into the new era of digital publishing." Kate Tentler, Vice President and Publisher of Simon & Schuster Online, added: "We have seen firsthand, at SimonSays.com, the ongoing high level of interest in Hemingway in the online community. The Hemingway ebooks, may be purchased at the company's own ebook store, SimonSaysShop.com, and at other online ebook outlets. All titles will be priced at $9.99. Scribner also announced that it would expand the academic market for Hemingway permissions by granting, for the first time, electronic permissions for course work. The company has set up a special email address hemingwaypermissions@simonandschuster.com to handle permissions queries.
