Posted on May 24, 2002

Cygnus Business Media, a business-to-business media company, announced the acquisition of Frozen Food Age and Food Logistics magazines from New York-based VNU Business Media. The transaction also includes the publications' websites FrozenFoodAge.com and Foodlogistics.com. Both publications will be based out of the company's Melville, New York office and report to Group Vice President Katie Brennan. The Compass Group International, an affiliate of DeSilva & Phillips, a media investment banker, represented Cygnus on the transaction.

"Cygnus already serves nearly 200,000 professionals, retailers and manufacturers in the agriculture and food industries within its Publishing, Exposition and Custom Marketing divisions," says President & CEO Paul Mackler. "We are excited to add these two publications to our growing agriculture & food portfolio."

Published monthly, Frozen Food Age reaches over 17,000 decision-making executives in the retail, distribution, warehousing, brokerage and manufacturing sectors of the frozen food industry. FrozenFoodAge.com provides the latest industry news, a searchable article archive from Frozen Food Age, classifieds, and business resources.

Food Logistics is a trade publication for the $75B food logistics and supply chain industry serving all aspects including transportation, distribution, warehousing and information technology. Published nine times per year, its circulation consists of more than 27,000 executives from the manufacturing, retailing, wholesaling, distributing, warehousing and transportation sectors. As an extension of Food Logistics magazine, Foodlogistics.com covers critical concerns for warehousing, material handling, transportation, distribution, information technology, and facility design.

"These publications will be integrated immediately into an already well- established market segment," says Cygnus Publishing President Rich Reiff. "We are pleased to have the publishers, editors and staff from both publications join us," he notes. "Their industry expertise will continue to provide valuable insight and service to our customers."
