Information Today to Relaunch EMedia Magazine in August

Posted on June 14, 2002

Information Today, Inc., publisher of EMedia magazine, has announced that it will relaunch the magazine in August as EMedia, The Digital Studio Magazine. Information Today acquired EMedia magazine as part of its purchase of technology publisher Online, Inc.'s assets in May, 2002.

Editorial changes to the magazine include expanded coverage of the digital studio environment, including content creation workstations and all the advanced technology in today's digital media studios: non-linear editing solutions; high-resolution display hardware; asset storage and retrieval; audio/video encoders; CD/DVD authoring, recording, duplication, and printing and visual effects software. EMedia will also explain the underlying standards and technology that make a workstation perform a variety of functions, such as encoding, editing, rendering, recording to disc, color management, audio and visual effects, and more.

"EMedia will significantly expand to cover the studio environment, and workstations that people use to manipulate audio, video, and imagery," said Adam Pemberton, Publisher and Founder. "Our purview in the past has been limited to peripheral technologies that creative and technical people use, such as DVD recorders and the software that drives them. We are expanding on that by covering the entire digital media studio, the workstations, and all the parts that go into them. The past eighteen months have revealed a trend toward integrated software applications, such as DVD authoring and video editing. The digital studio is also a converging environment for media creation and production. Now, EMedia, The Digital Studio Magazine is all about this environment, whether it's in a corporate multimedia department, commercial video/audio/post facility, or a service bureau."

The August issue will be on sale July 31, 2002. Now in its fifteenth year of publication, EMedia will relaunch with a redesign of the contents and departments, larger trim size, and heavier paper. Circulation promotions this summer include over 200,000 impressions to new lists, targeting corporate and service bureau creative systems staff, and workstation system integrators.

"Our readers are both creative and technical experts," said Editor Stephen Nathans. "In addition to managing a creative or production staff, they specify the technology they need in their workstation or studio. We'll now be looking at the range of products they use, and examining the technologies behind them and the business issues surrounding them."
