MSNBC.com Launches Daily Weblogs
MSNBC.com,
an online news website, has launched
daily weblogs devoted to media, politics, technology,
international news and entertainment. Each blog is created
by an MSNBC.com columnist who provides analysis for readers,
as well as bookmarks and links to the latest online news in
their area of expertise. Visitors to MSNBC.com can read blogs
from Eric Alterman, Chris Matthews, Michael Moran, Alan Boyle,
and Jan Herman in the Opinions section of the site.
"MSNBC.com is constantly updating its approach to journalism
and the addition of weblogs is a perfect way to meet the
changing needs of our users," said Thomas Brew, executive editor,
MSNBC.com. "weblogs give people fast access to the subjects that
interest them and provide editorial direction from MSNBC.com's
top columnists."
"Weblogs give me the opportunity to tap into the collective
intelligence of the media on any subject and share my thoughts
with readers," said Eric Alterman. "Although a relatively new
phenomenon, blogs are becoming an important distribution network
for news and information."
List of MSN's New Weblogs
- Altercation Weblog -- In
his "Altercation" Weblog, Eric Alterman reflects on media,
politics and culture.
- Hardball -- Chris Matthews' "Hardball" is an insider's guide to how
politics is played.
- World Agenda -- Michael Moran's "World Agenda," focuses on international news
and American foreign policy.
- Cosmic Log -- The "Cosmic Log" is Alan Boyle's news forum for the latest
advances in technology, science, space and exploration.
- The Juice -- Jan Herman looks at news from the world of
entertainment and the arts.
"We see blogs as both a new literary genre and the next generation
of online communities: A focused, information-rich environment in
which a writer -- famous, infamous or unknown -- engages in the
daily act of thinking aloud, in the ever-expanding universe of
the Web," added Joan Connell, executive producer for Opinions
and Communities on MSNBC.com. "As our weblogs evolve, count on
MSNBC.com to become a resource center and a platform from which
bloggers can connect with one another and with the ideas that
shape our world."
