Patrick Holford and Phillips Health Launch New Publication

Posted on June 28, 2002

Patrick Holford, an authority on new approaches to health and well-being, has joined with Phillips Health, LLC, to launch a new publication, Patrick Holford's Wellness Advisor -- Optimum Health & Natural Healing. The goal of the monthly newsletter is to help readers understand the best ways to achieve "super health" -- a state in which the body and mind work together to create resilience to infectious diseases and protection from the most prevalent health concerns of the 21st century. Complementing the newsletter is Holford's website, which provides a vitamin-mineral compendium, recipes for optimum health and other resources.

"I am delighted to be working with Phillips Health," Holford says. "Now more than ever, with the changes we face daily, it is vitally important to let people know how to create a healthy balance within their lives so they can function better and live longer. Joining forces with a company already noted for its excellent newsletters on complementary and alternative medicine will help me share my views on optimum health and natural healing with the American public."

Holford is known for his meticulous documentation of nutrition case studies. While completing his bachelor's degree in experimental psychology at the University of York, he participated in extensive research on the role of nutrition in mental health and illness, and later recorded the effects of improved nutrition on children's IQs. This experiment was featured on the popular British Broadcasting Company (BBC) Horizon science documentary series, and led to his first U.K. television appearance in 1987. In 1984, he founded the Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION), a charitable and independent educational trust to further education and research in nutrition.

"To date, ION has trained more than 30,000 nutritionists," says Phillips Health Senior Vice President of Marketing Jonathan E. Missner. "ION exists to promote awareness in all matters relating to nutrition. These solutions, which rely on nature rather than prescription drugs, have produced remarkable results. Patrick's ongoing association with ION will only serve to enhance the scope of his new newsletter and the other publications he will author for Phillips and the U.S. audience."

During the last decade Holford has written 27 books, which have sold more than a million copies worldwide. His most recent book, Natural Highs (Avery, 2002), was just released this month in the United States. Located in the Greater Washington, D.C., area, Phillips International provides products and services for the health and investment marketplaces.
