Friday, July 19, 2002 Media Cynic | Forum | Advertising | Classifieds | Jobs Travelhost Chicago Relaunching in August "When we realized that two-thirds of all travel expenditures in Chicago come from business and convention travelers, we saw a market that was severely underserved. Other in-room publications serve leisure travelers who typically visit on weekends. Our magazine will be an essential guide for business professionals everyday of the week, whether they are planning a business meeting, golf outing or power lunch," said Bill Rourke. "The city of Chicago if thrilled to have Travelhost back in Chicago. It will serve a critical market that spends over 6.4 billion dollars annually while visiting Chicago. Travelhost will be an essential resource for hotels and local businesses. Ultimately, it's a great tool to promote more business, conventions and visitors to Chicago," commented James "Skinny" Sheahan, Assistant General Manager for McCormick Place. Travelhost Chicago has been redesigned to specifically cater to business professionals. Every month, the new magazine will contain "business friendly" information on restaurants, entertainment, sports and culture in the city. It will be available in-room and at concierge desks of select downtown and suburban hotels, as well as at corporate concierges, business centers and other highly traveled business locations throughout the city. As a family growing up on the Northwest side of Chicago, the Rourkes recognized the value of a guide specifically for busy professionals who travel to the city on business, but want to squeeze in some pleasure while in town. "There's so much to see just walking from your hotel to your next meeting in the Loop. Business travelers have limited time to enjoy all Chicago has to offer, and our magazine will tell them how to make the most of their visit," commented Kelly Rourke. Travelhost has 8.5 million readers monthly and is currently found in over 80 cities throughout the country. The Chicago edition of Travelhost is part of Mayor Daley's "Chicago: We're Glad You're Here" program and is a member of the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau, the Illinois Restaurant Association, the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association and various other local organizations.
