Black Enterprise Announces the Publication of Teenpreneur

Earl G. Graves Ltd., parent company of Black Enterprise magazine, has announced the launch of Teenpreneur. Aimed at youth ages 13-18, Teenpreneur is positioned as BE for the next generation. The premier issue, October 2002, is packaged as a special editorial section with the October issue of BE.

Black Enterprise is a business and investment resource for African Americans. The monthly publication, with a total circulation of over 450,000, provides information on entrepreneurship, careers, and financial management. BE now plans to bring its expertise to youth to inspire them to view entrepreneurship as an exciting option, to develop a basic understanding of business principles and financial matters, and to be ambitious in their career goals. Alfred A. Edmond Jr., Senior V.P./Editor-in-Chief of BE, will also guide the editorial direction of Teenpreneur. Mr. Edmond joined Black Enterprise in 1987 and assumed his current role in January 2000.

Edmond said that Teenpreneur was launched because of positive reader reactions to its two previously published newsletters: Black Enterprise for Teens and KidpreneurNews. The new Teenpreneur magazine is expected to become a stand-alone in the future.

"Our achievements mean nothing if they do not lay the foundation for the next generation to exceed them. That's why Teenpreneur is available to every reader and subscriber of BE," said Earl G. Graves Sr., Chairman & CEO of Earl G. Graves Ltd. "As adults, we are too often frustrated by the lack of substantive, positive information for our young people. We are desperate for alternatives to youth publications that exploit and titillate, rather than uplift and educate our youth. Teenpreneur fills that void. It is designed to do for our children what BE has done for adults: spark financial awareness, encourage career ambitions, and promote entrepreneurial success."
