MSNBC.com Develops Travel Section With Budget Travel

MSNBC.com, an Internet news website, and Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel, a magazine covering vacation options, have entered into a content sharing agreement that incorporates original daily news items of late-breaking travel deals, as well as articles from the current issue of the magazine into the co-branded Budget Travel section of the MSNBC.com website. Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel is published ten times annually by Newsweek Budget Travel, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Newsweek, Inc.

"Budget Travel is widely known as the best source for practical travel information," said Michael Silberman, acting Editor in Chief of MSNBC.com. "This co-branded section combines the best of MSNBC.com's news with Budget Travel's highly regarded travel content to become a great destination for smart and timely travel information on the Internet. Arthur Frommer is the best in the business and we look forward to working with him and his daughter Pauline."

The new MSNBC.com Budget Travel section will feature weekly headline stories from the current issue of Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel magazine, a free daily newsletter highlighting the best travel deals on the market, as well as destination information on over 200 cities worldwide. The new travel section will also provide, for a fee, archives of all the previous issues of Budget Travel dating back to February 1998, when the magazine first began publishing.

"We are enthusiastic to present our cost-conscious audience with new, fresh, and more comprehensive content and services," said Arthur Frommer. "Our union with MSNBC.com allows us to offer hidden travel bargains and late-breaking discounts to consumers on a much grander scale."

Pauline Frommer, recently appointed Executive Editor of Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel Online, will work closely with MSNBC.com Editor and Producer, Gael Fashingbauer Cooper, to produce the co-branded Travel section. Before joining MSNBC.com, Ms. Cooper served as Weblog columnist and online entertainment editor for the Star Tribune newspaper in Minneapolis, as a founding editor of Microsoft's Twin Cities Sidewalk, and as a magazine travel and restaurant editor.
