Ramp Media Inc. has launched Ramp, a
men's lifestyle magazine. The premiere issue hit
newsstands on
October 15th. The magazine will be bi-monthly for the
first two issues and will publish monthly beginning March 2003.
Ramp will enter the competitive
men's magazine market competing against magazines like Maxim,
FHM and Stuff.
"There are two million readers who grow up and out of the current lad books each year. We created Ramp for them," said Carmine Bellucci, Ramp's editor-in-chief. "Now these readers can enjoy a homegrown take on American pop culture, not distorted by a British publishing formula." The premiere issue of Ramp features an interview with cover girl Jolene Blalock, star of the UPN series Star Trek Enterprise. Deputy editor Michael Rovner pens a feature on the new breed of white-collar fans filling the stands at NASCAR. Other features include an article about the women who dominate pro paintball; an article called "69 Great Guy Inventions," that claims to help you fully appreciate the genius of the male species; and advice from resident "sexpert" Judy Dutton who gives readers tips on how to get the girl, what to do with her, and how to make her stay. Regular Ramp features include photographs and interviews of women celebrities and models; coverage of cars, crime, sports and adventure; reviews of the newest gear, gadgets, books, movies and music; and the "Off Ramp" pages, which feature oddball news and products from beneath the radar.
