Before the relaunch, the Project for Excellence and the Committee had separate homes on the web but a sizable amount of duplicative content. The new combined Journalism.org is designed to give those who visit either site easy access to information from both. "This new site is better organized, more comprehensive and more useful for journalists and the general public alike," said Project Director Tom Rosenstiel. "The tools section is a significant new addition, with hundreds of ideas, tools and strategies gathered over several years." The site is meant to be a resource for the public as well as journalists, will be updated regularly and will grow with new studies and new material. The new Journalism.org offers include a tools section designed to help journalists, teachers, students and the general public better understand the craft of journalism; research data from PEJ/CCJ and others; The Daily Briefing, a digest of stories about the news media; education and training resources; and job, media and journalism school links. "This new site is better organized, more comprehensive and more useful for journalists and the general public alike," said Project Director Tom Rosenstiel. "The tools section is a significant new addition, with hundreds of ideas, tools and strategies gathered over several years. We hope the site can be a portal for anyone interested in what the press does to learn from our work and gain access to those of others." The Project for Excellence in Journalism is a journalist-run research institute aimed at helping clarify the core principles and standards of the craft. The Committee of Concerned Journalists is a consortium of reporters, editors, producers, publishers, owners and academics concerned about the direction of American journalism and the pressures it faces. Both are affiliated with the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts. The Committee’s extensive traveling curriculum training program for journalists is funded by the Knight Foundation.
