Posted on November 1, 2002

Advanstar Healthcare Communications plans to launch Modern Health for Women in January 2003. The magazine, a direct-to-patient publication will be distributed to the waiting rooms of targeted physicians and will be published six times in 2003. Modern Health for Women will focus on health issues that concern women of all ages. The publication will offer different perspectives on treatment options; provide roadmaps for distinguishing between normal and abnormal changes of the health cycle; clarify approaches to prevention and diagnosis; and report on new advances that may affect all women.

Modern Health for Women will help fill the void of credible and reliable information currently available to women consumers, said Matthew J. Holland, Publisher. "Our objective is to increase the quality and quantity of dialogue between women consumers and their healthcare providers, and Modern Health for Women will do just that."

Modern Health for Women is a natural evolution for Advanstar Healthcare Communications," added Ray Lender, General Manager. "Adding a direct-to- patient publication to our portfolio is consistent with our objective of becoming a comprehensive medical communications company."

Modern Health for Women will address a wide variety of women's health issues through monthly features and reports of new products, medical research findings and evaluation of web-based health information. It will be distributed to more than 24,000 ObGyns, Obstetricians, Gynecologists, and Reproductive Endocrinologists throughout the United States. The magazine will also have a corresponding website that will include articles and offer electronic newsletters at modernhealthforwomen.com.

Advanstar Healthcare Communications, which is part of Advanstar Communications Inc., focuses on medical publishing and physician education. In addition to Managed Healthcare Executive and Formulary Magazines, the company publishes DVM Newsmagazine, Cosmetic Surgery Times, Dermatology Times, Ophthalmology Times, Ophthalmology Times China, Ophthalmology Times America Latina, Geriatrics, HT, The Magazine for Healthcare Travel Professionals, and Urology Times.
