Peterson's Acquires CyberEdit

Peterson's, part of The Thomson Corporation and a provider of educational information and solutions, has acquired California-based CyberEdit, Inc., a provider of online essay instruction and editing, as well as resume writing services. CyberEdit provides services to students and professionals via two websites: EssayEdge.com and ResumeEdge.com.

Since CyberEdit's founding in 1997, EssayEdge.com has become a popular source of assistance to college, graduate, and professional school applicants seeking help editing admissions essays and personal statements. ResumeEdge.com provides instruction and support from Certified Professional Resume Writers (CPRWs). ResumeEdge.com powers the resume writing services of The Wall Street Journal's CareerJournal.com, Lycos, SallieMae's TrueCareers, and other job-search websites. The acquisition strengthens Peterson's suite of college and graduate school planning solutions. For example, CyberEdit's resume services enable Peterson's to extend its brand beyond its traditional high school, college, and graduate school markets, complementing the services it offers lifelong learners and people in career transition.

"The addition of CyberEdit's critically acclaimed and extremely popular writing services perfectly supports Peterson's strategic commitment to providing education consumers with a single source that meets their college, graduate school, and career planning needs," said Mary E. Gatsch, President of Peterson's. "And CyberEdit's business relationships, particularly those with high schools and guidance counselors, give Peterson's another avenue for further developing key market segments."
