· The Board of Directors of Gravitas International announced the appointment of James Riley, former President and COO of AdCritic.com, as the new President and CEO of Gravitas International Inc. Mr. Riley was responsible for the successful sale of Adcritic.com to Crain Communications, the parent company of Advertising Age Magazine. Mr. Riley's appointment replaces the CEO capacity previously held by Mr. Larry Shaben, who remains Chairman of the Board. Mr. Riley has also assumed the position of President of Gravitas Digital Communications Inc., a position previously held by founder Kevin Hayden.

· The Princeton Review, a provider of test preparation and college admissions services, has named Robin Raskin as Director of Communications. Ms. Raskin will be responsible for integrating the public relations and community efforts for the three business divisions of The Princeton Review. Before joining The Princeton Review, Ms. Raskin spent 11 years at Ziff Davis Media, first as the Editor of PC Magazine and then as the Editor in Chief of FamilyPC, and as a Vice President for Ziff Davis Media.

· ScanSource, Inc., a distributor of specialty technology products, has named Richard Cleys as Vice President and, effective on November 15, 2002, Chief Financial Officer. Cleys brecently served as Vice President Finance and Treasurer at Lanier Worldwide in Atlanta, Ga.

· Alan Schlanger, formerly Publisher of Giftware Business, has joined Convenience Store News as Associate Publisher, effective November 8th. Alan has spent over 20 years in the business media arena, including publishing, trade shows, and event marketing. Prior to joining Giftware Business, he was President/CEO of Active Ingredients. Alan has also held posts at Reed Business Information and Publishers Weekly.

· Infinity Broadcasting has named Kevin Weatherly Senior Vice President, Programming, and Eric Logan Vice President, Programming, it was announced by Andy Schuon, President, Programming, Infinity Broadcasting. Weatherly, who will continue his duties as Program Director for KROQ-FM, Infinity's Los Angeles radio station, will stay based in Los Angeles while Logan will relocate to New York.

· Ziff Davis Media Inc. announced the appointment of Gregory Barton as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, effective immediately. Mr. Barton was most recently President, CFO and General Counsel of Index Development Partners, Inc.

· Reed Business Information announced that Joe Tessitore has been appointed Managing Director, Publishing Group, which includes Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, School Library Journal and Criticas. Previously, Tessitore served as President of Grolier/Scholastic Publishing.

· Francis X. Clines, a national correspondent for The New York Times, will join The New York Times editorial board. Gail Collins, editor of the editorial page, announced the appointment, which will take effect on December 2. Mr. Clines, 64, has been a reporter for the metropolitan, national and foreign desks at The New York Times since being hired in 1958 as a copy boy.

· OverDrive, a provider of digital publishing technologies, announced Ray Leach has joined the company as Senior Vice President, Business Development. Prior to joining OverDrive, Mr. Leach was founder and president of Capella Investments, Inc., a firm that provided angel and management consulting to startup technology organizations.

· The Village Voice, an alternative weekly newspaper, announced the appointment of Martin Jorgensen as controller, effective November 18. Jorgensen comes to the Village Voice with more than ten years of planning, reporting and operations experience at the New York Times Company. In his role at the Voice, Jorgensen will be responsible for the company's overall financial functions, strategic financial planning and budgeting processes, as well as credit and collections. Jorgensen will also be responsible for the company's principal accounting and tax matters.

Content Deals

· America Online Latin America, Inc., an interactive services provider in Latin America, announced an online content agreement with Zoom Media Group (ZMG), publishers of Poder Magazine and Loft Magazine, two magazines aimed at regional audiences in Latin America as well as the US Hispanic market. This agreement will bring content from the two publications to AOL members in Mexico, Argentina, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Hispanic market via AOL Keyword: Latino and creates cross-promotional opportunities between the companies.

· Cygnus Business Media, a B2B media company, announced it has acquired The Fire-EMS Information Network, an online portal located at Fire-EMS.net, from Illinois-based Cambert, Ltd. The site was one of the first portals to serve the emergency services industry, offering free home page hosting for thousands of departments worldwide. Cygnus Business Media already reaches millions of fire and EMS professionals through their Firehouse.com, Firehouse magazine, Firehouse Expo and Firehouse World.

· News Communications, Inc. announced that is has sold Queens Tribune and other related publications to an investment group headed by its Publisher of the past 24 years, Michael Schenkler, and Congressman Gary Ackerman.

· Rand McNally, a provider of mapping, routing and travel solutions, announced a distribution agreement with Highsmith Inc., and its wholly-owned subsidiary MindSparks Learning Resources LLC. Rand McNally's educational publishing division will distribute MindSparks history education programs: Excursions in History and History Unfolding.

Launches and Redesigns

· Element K, a provider of elearning solutions for business and technology skills, announced the introduction of KnowledgeHub Authoring Services. This authoring tool will extend the functionality of KnowledgeHub, Element K's learning management system (LMS), and give customers the ability to create their own training content, publish it to the LMS, and make it available to their users in an ASP environment.

· Amazon.com has launched its holiday Delight-O-Meter, which first appeared on the site for the 2000 holiday season. Viewable on the Amazon.com Welcome page, the Delight-O-Meter tracks the approximate number of items ordered from Amazon.com domains worldwide.

Miscellaneous

· Silver Star Media Group, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of Silver Star Foods, Inc. has signed a publisher distribution agreement with Ingram Periodicals Inc. The agreement places the publication Muhammad Ali - The Greatest in bookstores nation wide through various high profile chain stores such as Barnes and Noble, B Dalton Book Stores, Borders, Bookstops, and Hastings Books & Records.
