Advanstar Acquires Salon News

Advanstar Communications Inc. announced that it has acquired Salon News from Fairchild Publications. The publication will be incorporated into Advanstar's International Beauty Group. Launched in May of 1993 and published monthly, Salon News is sent to 77,000 beauty salon owners and managers. Salon News also publishes the Look Book, which is a consumer-oriented beauty and fashion magazine edited for the beauty salon client.

"Advanstar has been serving the beauty industry for more than 125 years through its American Salon publication and the International Beauty Show New York tradeshow," said Robert Krakoff, Chairman and CEO, Advanstar Communications. "By acquiring Salon News we will further expand our position and service to this dynamic and growing industry."

Advanstar's International Beauty Group includes American Salon, the most widely circulated (133,000 total circulation) trade magazine serving the US professional beauty industry; American Spa, a magazine reaching 28,000 readers in the spa industry; the International Beauty Show (IBS) New York, a professional beauty event in the US; the American Spa Expo and Conference, a new event co-located with IBS New York; and Haircolor USA, a conference for hair colorists.
