Salem Publishing Launches Faith Talk Magazine

Salem Communications, a radio broadcaster focused on religious and family themes programming, has launched Faith Talk Magazine, a regional publication that initially will reach more than 340,000 homes across America. The magazine is a cooperative effort between Salem Publishing, a division of Salem Communications, and Salem's talk/teaching radio stations. Markets featuring the magazine in its initial launch are Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Portland and Washington, D.C.

Jim Cumbee, President of Non-Broadcast Media for Salem Communications said, "We have worked closely the entire Salem radio team to develop a magazine that complements our talk/teaching radio stations. For example, articles in this first issue were written by Dr. Walt Larimore of 'Focus on the Family,' Barbara Rainey of 'Family Life Today,' Hugh Hewitt of the 'Hugh Hewitt Show' and Hank Hanegraaff of 'The Bible Answer Man.' Additionally, there are articles and features from regional leaders, so it really serves the local community, as well. Faith Talk Magazine brings to life in words and pictures what listeners hear on Salem's talk/teaching formatted stations. It is synergy at its very best."

The cover story for the first issue of Faith Talk Magazine is "Where Hope Lives," featuring insights from four women who have had their faith sorely tested: Kathy Troccoli, Heather Mercer, Dayna Curry and Nancy Guthrie. Included also in each issue, are inspiring stories from key Christian leaders, musicians and teachers. For the holiday season, Faith Talk Magazine will feature "12 Ways of Christmas" which will include insights from Adrian Rogers, Greg Laurie and Chonda Pierce.

The full plans for Faith Talk Magazine are still under development, but at least two issues will be published during 2003. Roger Kemp, Vice President of National Program Development and Ministry Relations, said, "There's not a home in America that doesn't need practical help on some level ... and a good dose of hope, as well. Drawing on the talent and insight of our broadcasters, Faith Talk will provide another avenue for serving our listening family in this regard."
