ChristianityToday.com to Manage leftbehind.com

Posted on December 13, 2002

Tyndale House Publishers has selected Christianity Today International's online research and development team, the developers of ChristianityToday.com, to relaunch and manage their leftbehind.com website, coming late March 2003. Leftbehind.com is the website for Tyndale's popular Left Behind series, which has sold over 50 million copies so far.

"We consider it a privilege to manage the website content for Tyndale's Left Behind series," said Harold Myra, CEO of Christianity Today International. "While opinions vary about the books' eschatology, it is clear that they introduce to American culture themes of God's holiness, judgment, and redemption -- themes largely lost to the public consciousness. We hope this collaborative effort will encourage many additional responses to the Gospel of Jesus Christ."

The relaunch of leftbehind.com will build on the expanding publications and products in the Left Behind series. The new site will offer more series-related resources, reader testimonies, and author feedback. Additional end times and spiritual growth resources will be added from the publications of both Christianity Today International and Tyndale House Publishers.

"Tyndale House's mission is to minister to the spiritual needs of people, and Left Behind has played an important role in that ministry," said Mark Taylor, president of Tyndale House Publishers. "The new partnership with Christianity Today International allows us to combine our resources and outreach to make an even greater impact for the cause of Christ."

The Remnant, the tenth title in the Left Behind series, released in July 2002, was the fourth consecutive book in the series to make its first appearance in the number one slot on the bestseller lists for The New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Publishers Weekly, and the Christian Booksellers Association. Desecration, the ninth volume, was the number one bestselling hardcover novel in 2001, according to Publishers Weekly.
