VentureWire and Technology Review to Launch Semiconductor Innovation Letter

Posted on January 3, 2003

VentureWire, a daily news and information service for the venture capital community, and Technology Review, MIT's magazine of innovation, announced that the two companies have signed a strategic partnership to jointly publish Semiconductor Innovation Letter, a twice-monthly electronic newsletter covering the semiconductor industry.

Designed for industry executives and investors, Semiconductor Innovation Letter will provide analysis, insight, news and evaluation of the leading companies within the semiconductor industry. Written by a team of editors from both organizations, the newsletter focuses on innovations from newly-funded start-ups, university labs and established public companies. Example topics include the convergence of communication and computation, 3D architectures, silicon nanowires, and organic semiconductors.

"With over 200 chip start-ups raising $2 billion in funding in the last year alone, it's clear that the semiconductor industry continues to be strongly driven by pure technical innovation. In turn, this innovation creates a set of fluid, fast-changing and very attractive opportunities for businesses looking to invest in new technology. We're looking to offer those investors -- whether they be venture firms, corporations or individuals -- with an essential analytical guide to the semiconductor industry at large," said Brian O'Connell, publisher of VentureWire.

The Semiconductor Innovation Newsletter is delivered via email as an electronic publication. Yearly subscriptions of 24 issues will cost $995.

"The $160 billion semiconductor industry is on the verge of significant change, during which it will face several new challenges: manufacturing at an even smaller scale; entering new markets; employing new materials and creating new applications. Those investing in this market require the quantitative market analysis and technology insight that both of our publications provide. By combining our individual expertise, we're able to successfully meet the needs of those interested in this growing industry," said R. Bruce Journey, President and CEO of Technology Review.

Technology Review, MIT's magazine of innovation, is the world's oldest technology magazine. The magazine provides information about emerging technologies on the verge of commercialization. VentureWire publishes five newsletters about private companies and venture capital. VentureWire is published by Technologic Partners, a publishing and events firm that has been tracking the important strategic business and financial issues of high technology and the venture capital marketplace since 1984.
