Salem Communications Launches Homecoming Magazine

Posted on February 7, 2003

Salem Communications, a media company focusing on religious and family themes programming, has joined with Bill and Gloria Gaither to launch Homecoming Magazine. Homecoming Magazine will be based on the Homecoming series of concerts and videos and will feature the personalities and writing talents of Bill, Gloria, Mark Lowry and other Homecoming personalities.

Homecoming contains features and regular columns focusing on such topics as relationships, spirituality and health & fitness. There will also be interviews with influential names, including Elizabeth Dole, Anne Graham Lotz and Tony Campolo. Regular columns include "The Misadventures of Mark" (where class clown Mark Lowry braves challenges put to him by readers) and "Ask B-B-B-Bill," where Bill Gaither answers questions posed by readers. The publication will also advice columns and reviews of books, albums, movies and gifts.

Gloria Gaither said, "We have had so many requests for this kind of 'gathering place' for friends to meet friends. We hope everyone who loves our music and the Homecoming videos, including adults, kids and teens, will enjoy learning more about the everyday lives and special passions of those in our featured interviews."

According to Jim Cumbee, President of Non-Broadcast Media for Salem, "The publication will be a source of both entertainment and inspiration, while encouraging and challenging readers. Through the Homecoming series, our primary focus is to celebrate the continued wonder and glory God brings to our lives. Salem Communications is in the business of distributing content to serve the audience interested in religious and family values, therefore it is quite natural for our two organizations to come together to create Homecoming Magazine. The Gaithers have been a remarkable and godly source of inspiration and entertainment for 40 years."

Ingram Periodicals will distribute Homecoming Magazine to newsstands, bookstores and Christian retailers nationwide. Salem Communications Corporation, headquartered in Camarillo, California, is the leading U.S. radio broadcaster focused on religious and family themes programming. The company owns and operates 85 radio stations, including 55 stations in the top 25 markets. In addition to its radio properties, Salem owns the Salem Radio Network, which syndicates talk, news and music programming to over 1,600 affiliated radio stations; Salem Radio Representatives, a national sales force; Salem Web Network, an Internet provider of Christian content; and Salem Publishing, a publisher of contemporary Christian music trade and consumer magazines.
